Guide Overview

Dear Researcher,

The Cancer Health Equity Center of Excellence (CHECoE) at the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey (RCINJ) is the mechanism by which we deliver our Community Outreach and Engagement (COE) activities to address Catchment Area (CA) cancer burden and community needs. This guide has been prepared by the CHECoE team to help support you as researchers engage fully in leading purposeful and meaningful conversations about your science with community members in our CA. It has been designed to be a resource to help facilitate bi-directional conversations and engagement between you the researcher and community members to help inform your research through community input. The document has been divided into the following three sections to help you guide you through this process..

• Section One (COE Background). Provide an overview and background information on Community Outreach and Engagement (COE) and how Rutgers Cancer Health Equity Center of Excellence (CHECoE) can help researchers facilitate COE related efforts with their research.

• Section Two ( Techniques & Suggestions). Provides techniques and specific suggestions for engaging in COE facilitated bi-directional discussions.

• Section Three ( Templates & Resources). Provides templates and additional resources.
