In spring 2013, an Operations & Strategic Initiatives unit was created to provide the necessary support for marketing, technology, assessment, and administration. In summer 2013, the office developed the career interest cluster approach to service delivery now emulated across the country. In spring 2017, the then University Career Services integrated with the First-year Interest Group Seminars (FIGS) department allowing the office to integrate career development into transition courses for first-year first-semester students. In summer 2019, the Chancellor announced that the office would now report directly to the Office of the Chancellor. The title of the office was changed from University Career Services to Career Exploration and Success to attract first-year and sophomore students further while reflecting the unit’s holistic approach to career development.
