End of Recorder teaching objectives All (L1/2)  Experience playing collaboratively  Hold a recorder correctly  Demonstrate effective listening skills  Be aware of signals  Appreciate the importance of silence in music  Copy a simple rhythmic pattern  Follow simple musical instructions  Perform a simple pattern or accompaniment

Most (L3/4)  Recognise the notes BAG on the stave and play BAG  Know the correct playing technique (tonguing)  Having a basic understanding of simple time signatures 34 44  Recognise crotchets, quavers, minims, semibreves and rests  Play with varying dynamics  To get to the end of set 3 activities (Red Hot Recorders)  Perform a simple melody  Play rhythmically simple parts that use a small range of notes  I can improvise repeated patterns, practice and repeat  I can make improvements to my own work and comment on the effect  To be able to perform a piece to an audience

Some (4/5)  Learn additional notes (E D F# etc.)  Understand musical signs, symbols and directions such as repeat bars  Understand how different musical elements are combined and used to play expressively  I can maintain my own part and be aware of how the different parts fit together to achieve an overall effect in performances e.g. Razza Sazza  Perform parts from memory and from notation  To take a lead or play solos in group performance  To recognise where improvements need to be made

Revisit prior learning

Teaching activities – what is the main focus today? What is new? Practice Time (if wide range of abilities, this could be used as extension time with more able) Apply: Performance/ sharing time for lesson

e.g. Don’t clap this one back pulse games match the pitch simple songs stamp and clap grid – making own rhythms Following sound instructions Four beat rhythm name game Switch game What did we learn last week? What do we know already? How do we hold our recorder? How do we tongue? Musical focus of today

What is the expectation of practice? Minimum expectation is that the class teacher will provide an opportunity in the week to practice for 10 mins.
