bi·o·mim·ic·ry [noun] The design and production of materials, structures, and systems that are modeled on biological entities and processes.
THE PROBLEM It is estimated that 100 trees are cut down every minute. An average American uses about 7 trees a year in paper and wood. The furniture industry in itself is a large consumer of wood; IKEA utilizes 1% of the entire world’s commercial wood supply. Utilizing the principles of biomimicry, we strive to create furniture that is recyclable, as well as structural.

WE AND US
RUTVI GUPTA
YASHVI VIRA
I am a sophomore majoring in Industrial Design at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. My interests include photography, traveling and seeing the world in its various forms through the eyes of design. The integration of design and technology, that has the capacity to increase the quality of the lives of the masses has captured me, and I hope to exploit this power entirely. Smart and simple design is my mantra, and I hope to follow these two guidelines in my journey ahead.
I am presently studying Industrial Design in the college of Fine Art and Design at the Univeristy of Illinois - Urbana Champaign. Like everyone, I dreamt of becoming successful in life too. But my wish was very simple. I wanted to create innovative things and help the people. My passion for this field lies in its ability to give my dream wings, an opportunity to let me communicate with the users by converting technologies and uses into emotional and innovative products.
