CHRISTMAS CAROL SING-ALONG
Joy to the world! Joy to the world
And heav’n and nature sing
The Lord is come, let Earth receive Her King.
And heav’n and nature sing
Let every heart prepare him room
And heaven and heaven and nature sing
The First Nowell The first Nowell The first Nowell the angel did say Was to certain poor shepherds In fields as they lay In fields as they lay Keeping their sheep
On a cold winter’s night that was so deep Nowell, Nowell, Nowell, Nowell Born is the king of Israel. Nowell, Nowell, Nowell, Nowell Born is the king of Israel
Hark! The Herald Angels Sing Hark! The herald angels sing
Join the triumph of the skies
Glory to the new born King!
With th’angelic host proclaim
Peace on earth and mercy mild
Christ is born in Bethlehem.
God and sinners reconciled.
Hark! The Herald angels sing
Joyful all ye nations rise
Glory to the newborn King!
Silent Night Silent night
Mother and child
Holy night
Holy infant so
All is calm
Tender and mild
All is bright
Sleep in heavenly peace
Round young virgin
Sleep in heavenly peace

Now in its 27th season, the critically acclaimed Greater Richmond Children’s Choir has sung on four continents in over 40 languages and is recognized for its commitment to excellence and diversity. Under the guidance of Artistic Director, Crystal Jonkman, and Associate Director, Pete Curry, GRCC offers boys and girls, ages 8 to 18, the opportunity to excel through the graduated study and performance of high-quality choral music with students from all around the region. With generous support from the central Virginia community and beyond, GRCC offers tuition and travel scholarships to more than one third of choristers, making the program accessible to all. Beginner and advanced choristers alike are welcome to join. Begun by VCU in 1997, GRCC became its own standalone nonprofit corporation in 2005, and is grateful to call Grace & Holy Trinity Episcopal Church its rehearsal home. Performing on six-and-a-half octaves of Malmark English handbells, handchimes and various other instruments, The James River Ringers is Richmond, Virginia’s, premier auditioned community handbell ensemble, dedicated to performing quality handbell music of all genres. In the spring of 2023 they moved to River Road Presbyterian Church as artists-in-residence, where the church provides rehearsal and storage space. The group has been in existence since 1995, when a few members began ringing together during summer break from church choirs. Those “ring-a-holics” formed The James River Ringers, chartered as a not-for-profit organization in 1998. Members have come from all parts of the Richmond metropolitan area, Williamsburg, Fredericksburg, Charlottesville and Harrisonburg. Dottie Tweedie is the founding director, holds the title, Director Emerita, and is back again postpandemic serving as interim director until a new one can be hired. The mission of The James River Ringers is to promote the art of handbell ringing and to present quality handbell music through public concerts, private events, workshops and classes that help to both educate and entertain. The choir provides a training opportunity for individual ringers, as well as organizing and participating in various handbell clinics, festivals and symposia.
