The Sheringham Shantymen have raised hundreds of thousands for the RNLI and other charity organisations since they formed in 1990

In 2022 they raised nearly £5000 for Ukraine with a charity performance in St Peter ’s Church, Sheringham and are hoping to repeat that success in early March with a performance in aid of the DEC (Disasters Emergency Committee)

Turkey-Syria Earthquake Appeal. With a blend of sea-shanties and well-known folk songs the Shantymen promise an entertaining evening with a retiring collection, entry is free

During the interval there will be refreshments and an auction to raise further funds for the appeal with some unique lots on offer including a 30 minute private helicopter flight along the North Norfolk coast for two people, a large framed print by local photographer & Shantyman Chris Taylor (signed on the reverse by all of the current Shantymen), a guided fly-fishing trip for trout on the River Glaven (with lunch) and more.

Shantymen Musical Director Brian Farrow said “It promises to be a great evening, performing to a packed St Peter ’s church is always very enjoyable and the buzz inevitably spreads to the audience We look forward to this late-notice performance and hope to do what we can to help the unfortunate folks in Turkey & Syria in their time of need.”
