CLIFTON LIBRARY Cincinnati, Ohio Autumn, 2007
As a composite of individual works, the library represents the many coexistent cultures of a self-contained city. This library was based speded system devised by the Commissioners Plan of 1811. brary sets out programmatic rectangular strips that act as the narrower “streets”, with several central “avenues” that access each of these strips. At unique moments of circulation the grid is interrupted to provide diagonal means of access. The library uses an urban palette of materials to reinforce the association to cities with concrete, steel, and glass.

AQUATIC SPA Summer, 2008
The aquatic spa functions as a refuge for those who need relief from life’s daily pressures and as a research facility that studies the impact of proximity to water on the stressed soul. Labyrithian paths are introduced as a crucial meditative element. Inherent in the project is the idea that the shortest distance between two points often neglects the contemplative qualities of the longer path. The project is located in Bocas del Toro, a beautiful tourist destination, close enough to the United States, but still far enough away to provide distance from the ordinary. The site is located a quarter of a mile off shore, so that it remains private but still maintains accessibility to the small but quaint village of Bocas del Toro.

CRANBROOK WELLNESS CENTER
The focus of this project was to create a harmony between the built environment of the Cranbrook Academy of Arts campus and the grown environment adjacent to the site. This design uses the roof as a folding device that caresses the building underground, those spaces become better insulated against the cold weather.

COMPACT LANTERN
The decision to design this lamp was motivated by three desires: to get a chance to familiarize myself with my for the windowless Brooklyn apartment I was living in, and an attempt to create something three dimensional that could be mailed to friends living throughout the United States. I was extremely happy with the outcome, because it was a success on all three fronts.
EAST/WEST COMIC
I’ve often had the desire to create a comic or book of illustrations to express myself in ways that architecture rarely permits. After moving to Brooklyn and discovering the Desert Island comic book store in Williamsburg, I found hundreds of books that accomplished exactly what I was looking to create. It inspired me and helped published comic books that is growing into a massive subculture. After the owner agreed to display my book, I quickly began compiling a collection of my drawings and ended up submitting copies of the book to the New York Camera Club’s Zine Fair. I’ve also been mailing them to friends from high school and college, in an effort to stay connected after graduating.

ALEX THEATER
This competition entry for the historic Alex Theater focused on creating shading devices for pre and post show gatherings. These schemes try to call back to the Egyptian era that the theater’s design attempts to mimic. Papyrus-like structures were used to emulate the mood of the Nile.
GUGGENHEIM KIOSK
In addition to designing The Wright restaurant and dre Kikoski was asked to create concepts for a more distinguished food kiosk to compete with the hot dog vendors that often crowd the sidewalks outside of the museum. I built this model for one of these schemes that used cast resin panels and a teardrop form based on one of Frank Lloyd Wright’s preferred geometries. The New York City’s Landmarks Preservation Commission’s denial of the design was written about in the October 2010 issue of The Architect’s Newspaper.
Z HOTEL INTERIOR
This model helped visualize a design for the bedrooms in the Z Hotel. In order to see materials in the space, I created elevations drawn with scanned and color matched material samples. After matching these materials I printed them to high gloss paper and applied them to foamcore creating a physical model that had the appearance of a 3D render and was highly representative of what the interior space would become.
CHONGQING SUPERTOWER HIGHRISE
The Supertower Highrise is a multitower mixed use development that acts a beacon of commerce and culture for the city of Chongqing. Throughout the course of this project, I have had the opportunity to work on many different elements of the project. I spent a few long days modeling the tower mullions in Rhino so they could be sent to a fabricator to create this presentation model. I was able to familiarize myself with the project by coloring a site plan and elevations (shown on adjacent page). As these elements were constantly changing, and it was my responsibility to update them, I was able to gain a well rounded awareness of the towers’ and podium’s progress throughout the project.

CHONGQING SUPERTOWER PODIUM
I have spent the majority of my experience at Kohn Pederson Fox Associates, developing various elements of the commercial podium that rests at the base of the three towers. I’ve have played for the podium’s storefront. Experimenting and modelling egress techniques, mullion solutions, and various details to negotiate these elements. In order to fully comprehend the techniques we wish to employ, it has been necessary for me to work in all forms of representation. Initially representing our options in elevation and then zeroing enough information about the shopfront to create 3D vignettes of the shopfront at the podium’s street level. These documents were then used to meetings with our client.
