On Sept. 4, faculty and students evacuated the building due to a bomb threat. They lef t at the beginning of their four th period. While bomb snif f ing dogs from the Indiana State Police checked out the buildings, they waited for about two hours on the soccer f ield.

Indiana pilot Marcus Schrenker sets his plane on autopilot before parachuting out over Alabama. The plane remains in the air for over 200 miles, then crashes in Florida. U.S. Marshals take Schrenker into custody Jan. 13, finding him at a campground in Florida. Schrenker faces federal charges in Florida for faking a distress call and willfully wrecking an aircraft and two felony criminal charges for violating the Indiana Uniform Securities Act.
Tony Dungy retires as coach of the Indianapolis Colts after seven seasons. Dungy was the first black head coach to win the Super Bowl and took the Colts to the playoffs six times. Assistant coach Jim Caldwell is Dungy’s replacement.
