Well, let us tell you a little about the history of the site where your glorious new Laytonfields home is situated. Laytonfields was once a market garden, farmed by the local Sayers family who held a long ancestry of working the land. Indeed, agriculture was the principal industry in Hurstpierpoint with the chief crops being oats, barley, wheat, with much pasture and market-garden produce, thriving in the loamrich soil that sits above the free draining chalk of the South Downs. Well into the 19th Century, Hurstpierpoint still held its own weekly corn market every Tuesday. No doubt some of the produce from the Sayers market garden passed through here and, in part, helping to make this thriving and historic village what it is today. At Rydon Homes, we’d like to think Laytonfields will be just as fruitful place to call home as it was for the Sayers family.
