Welcome to the sale!

We would like to extend our utmost welcome back for another edition of the L83 Ranch Production Sale. We look forward to this event as it is the time where all of our hard work and determination gets to be offered to you, our friends and customers, with a chance to use as a tool to improve your operations.

In today’s current market for beef cattle, after years of drought across many parts of the Nation, we are seeing a nationwide shortage of beef cattle. This shortage is pointing us in the direction of a booming cattle market in our near future.

Over the past several years, we have focused on raising cattle that will work in a seedstock industry, but most importantly the commercial cattle industry. We have strictly put together one of the most impressive set of Red Angus bulls to ever walk on the grounds in Westhope. These bulls have gone through a vigorous sifting process that includes having high vigor at birth, growing correctly and efficiently through all stages of development, proper testicular size and production, foot structure, temperament and udder structure of the cow families…to name a few. These bulls have been developed on high fiber rations to ensure appropriate gains per day of age. Grown in every sort of extremity when it comes to climate, these fellas can withstand some of mother nature’s cruelest scenarios.

We would like to extend an extra special welcome to our sale day partners, JK Angus. JK Angus is composed of Wylie, Sherry, Kaitlin and Jamie Geyer. Over the past decade, we have become very close with the Geyer family through road trips to Junior Nationals, pasture tours, State Fair shenanigans, and frequent phone calls between Ben and Wylie while searching for the next great herd sire. The bulls that JK Angus has brought to this year’s sale are impressive in every aspect, and we could not be more excited to have them with us on this important day!

Whenever you seem fitting, a tour of the bulls at the ranch is more than exciting to us. We pride our operation and would love to spend any given sort of time with each and every person willing to drive up. We cannot wait to see all of the familiar faces on sale day on March 28 th , at Kist Livestock in Mandan.

Sincerely,

The L83 Family

Welcome to this 47th edition of the L83 Ranch Production sale! In the scheme of the history of the L83 Ranch, and the Lodoen Families ranching endeavors, this past year is just another feather in the cap, however as the titles change and the management develops, it was another momentous one! A program that lost their patriarch here recently, however it is still evident to those close to the family and program, that the legacy of honesty, hard work, transparency, quality livestock and ‘Do to others as you would have them do to you’ that Leonard instilled will forever be embedded in the philosophies that guide the future of this Legacy Ranch.

It doesn’t take long after meeting Ben and the crew at L83 to realize that there are few people in agriculture that share the same level of excitement about providing nutrients for the global population. In a world of negativity, it’s refreshing to work with such an upbeat crew that enjoy the labor just as much as the fruits. To those that have not been to the ranch or met the talented people behind the Lodoen operation then wait no longer, they will go out of their way to take you through the cowherd, explain their breeding philosophies and talk about how you could benefit from an injection of their genetics into your program. There is no boarder to the distance that Ben will travel to research and investigate genetics that could provide the most profitable and successful genetics for his customers. The L83 has secured and produced several of the most dominate and proven herd sires and cow families in the breed. There is no doubt that Ben has been aggressive in his search to secure a group of cornerstone breeding pieces that lead the business. The sire battery that you will find in Westhope, North Dakota will rival any from the standpoint of a phenotype that is built for the Northern Plains!

The beef business is on the verge of record breaking times, and the forecast has us excited to see the new levels that can be achieved. An aggressive investment in numbers and genetics is likely to be met with rewards for those who are in a position to take advantage of the high potential of an upswing. There has not been a better time to invest in high quality genetics that will add more pounds, consistency and quality, because they will be paid for in the short term. A small investment upfront will be rewarded tenfold, and with the potency of genetics and cow family that stand behind this offering, you can trust in the heritability of quality that you will receive from adding L83 branded genetics to the bull roster.

Take this as your personal invitation to view or inquire about the Lodoen L83 Production Sale. Both the Lodoen and Geyer families are first class, the facilities at Kist Livestock are second to none, and the sale broadcast provided by DVAuction allows for a convenient way to bid whether you are standing in the sale facility or from the comfort of your own home. But rest assured if you make the journey to either the Ranch prior to sale week, or to Mandan to view the cattle in person you will be met with a treasure chest of genetic value and maternal power.
