Valley Architecture My home town, Taiwan, is a beautiful island punctuated by mountainous terrain.

I thus created this piece of architecture in the hope of providing shelter in a valley for people.

The structure includes three major parts and two bridges, and all of them are connected.

To make the structure resonate with the environment, I located the shapes in a way as if they “flow through” the narrow path.

Structural support was designed in a way that can sustain both the weight and the shear force.

Connectivity Below the seemingly peaceful surface of life sculpted by modern architectural plans, a crisis is bubbling -- Loneliness

Tulou

Condo

Suburb

Nowadays, privacy and individualism have taken precedence over connections, resulting in one of our most fundamental needs being left unfulfilled.

Currently, most plans of residential projects classify space in a dichotomous way. PRIVATE

PUBLIC

However, none of these spaces can become the catalyst for the generation of meaningful interpersonal connections.

The space in between is potent, yet it is often omitted. PRIVATE

IN BETWEEN

PUBLIC

By reintroducing the space “in between”, I believe people’s well-being can be immensely improved.

The “half outdoor space” created can only be accessed by the households on the same floor, this special property grants the space the ability to bond people together deeply. This environment hands people the autonomy to balance their social and private time.

Tensegrity Sculpture Seeing the structure in the IPHO national team selection exam, I was intrigued by it.

I created a structure using the same concept, and the structure gives an illusion of floating.

Stadium Being a massive football fan, I have a dream of designing a stadium, where people can be immersed in the amazing atmosphere.

Metamorphosis The world is undergoing a metamorphosis and so is architecture.

Within the same city or even district, historical and modern buildings stand shoulder to shoulder, manifesting the fast pace of evolution in architecture.

The white and uniformed forms resemble the old structure while the black and unique shapes represent the new.

The new is growing out from the old, the truly mesmerizing transformation is -metamorphosis

Essence Plains are subtle, they define space for us to perceive. With a unique approach, I experiment with plains.

I wanted to create forms not only unique but with totally different topological properties, which means that they can not match each other via bending, twisting, stretching, and shrinking

The mathematical approach used is “adding constraints”. The constraints used are the simplest ones, gluing and intersecting.

(Gluing direction is also one of the constraints) Gluing: Intersecting: - - - -

Overpass Overpasses can be the solution to the inconvenience of commuting in urban areas.

Nowadays, the city centre is often overcrowded and the air pollution is deteriorating. I believe overpasses can improve efficiency, safety, and better health for people.

The 3D model was created using Sketchup

Three versions were created in the process.

From the initial one which is relatively elaborated to the third one which is simple. I discovered harmony in simplicity.

And the font is actually inspired by the Bartlett Summer Show 2021 logo.
