MASTER OF INTERNATIONAL STUDIES The Master of International Studies (MIS) is a uniquely flexible program designed to prepare you to confront a range of global issues. If you’re looking for an international career in government, international organisations, civil society, or further academic work, UQ’s School of Political Science and International Studies is recognised as one of the best in Australia and the Asia-Pacific, and was ranked 40th in the world in the 2014 QS World University Rankings. There are over 30 full-time staff who are engaged in cutting-edge international research while simultaneously creating an award-winning teaching environment. The School also hosts one of only six worldwide Rotary Centres for International Studies in Peace and Conflict Resolution and the Asia-Pacific Centre for the Responsibility to Protect.

WHAT YOU STUDY
The University of Queensland offers a tailored Master’s Degree in International Studies aimed at those committed to making a difference. The MIS delivers an innovative program where you choose to specialise in one of two fields: International Relations or Peace and Conflict Resolution.
International studies is one of the most exciting and topical fields of study in contemporary politics.
The School has close ties with several Australian government agencies as well as with a number of overseas institutions and research centres in Asia, Europe and North America.
Within this program there are over 30 course options that allow you to acquire theoretical knowledge and study contemporary problems. The hallmark of the program is flexibility. You can choose to focus on coursework options, or undertake a research thesis over two semesters working intensively with an academic staff member. You can undertake an applied fieldwork experience, working closely with an organisation in Australia or overseas.
