A COLLECTION OF SEVERAL PROJECTS THAT I HAVE DONE DURING MY BACHELOR'S. MOST OF THESE PROJECTS ARE DIGITAL CONCEPTUAL COLLAGES I MADE FOR MY ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN PROJECTS TO CONVEY MY CONCEPT. THE FIRST PROJECT IS A PHYSICAL MODEL OF A PAVILION REPRESENTING OCTAVIA, A CITY FROM THE BOOK INVISIBLE CITIES BY ITALO CALVINO FOR A PROJECT IN FIRST YEAR. IT IS BASED ON THE CONCEPT OF THE IMPERMANENCE OF HUMAN LIFE. THE SECOND PROJECT IS A DIGITAL COLLAGE REPRESENTING THE ESSENCE OF SHALIMAR GARDEN, MADE FOR A LANDSCAPE DESIGN ASSIGNMENT. THE THIRD PROJECT IS A COLLAGE SUMMARIZING MY THESIS INTENT. THE LAST PROJECT IS A COLLAGE REPRESENTING THE SIGNIFICANCE OF OLD STRUCTURES ON STREET 28 IN OLD PINDI.

Uncertainty and impermanence. How everything is temporary and uncertain. Shadows change their position according to the movement of sun.

Octavia the uncertain city, known as “The city of webs”. Whole city is solely hanging from a net which serves as a foundation and as well as a passage. Houses are like sack. Everything is hanging below the web. Inhabitants of Octavia are residing in a hanging city across a precipice. People of Octavia are familiar with the fact that Octavia is a temporary city. They can’t be certain of their fate because the know one day the web will break and the city will lose its existence. Suspended objects describes the plight and uncertain life of dwellers of Octavia. It also depicts the uncertainty of actual word.

Fort Munro is a small town, a part of Koh e Suleman mountain range, located in district DG khan, 6,407 ft above sea level. It has rich cultural traditions and was once a summer destination for the British Colonial Government. Signs of their presence are still present here. The Government of Punjab has declared Fort Munro as an alternative hill station for the people of Southern Punjab.

With the rapid increase in tourism in recent years, new buildings are constructing to cater to the needs of the tourists, without keeping in mind the contextual features. Nevertheless, most of the tourists still refrain from staying in Fort Munro overnight. Because of the substandard level of facilities as compared to the other hill stations in Pakistan. Furthermore, there is a lack of interaction between the tourists and locals. Fewer measures are taken for the promotion of traditional crafts such as embroidery, peeshe weaving, shawl, and rug making. Ironically the unique characters of Fort Munro, its landscape, and tangible and intangible aspects of the local Balochi culture, are at risk.

To understand the role of architecture in creating a symbiotic relationship between tourism and culture rejuvenation. It aims to provide an interactive platform for the tourists where they can meet up with the locals and explore the local crafts. The project will aid in the conservation and promotion of local cultural heritage. Also, the locals will be able to learn, earn and socialize at the same time. In this way, locals will be regaining their lost presence by showcasing their rich culture.
