#1 Student Centre_ Rome Architectural Design Studio II AA 2006/07 Prof. Giannandrea Iacobucci
The compound, made up of two buildings, houses on one side accommodation for students, on the other side a multifunctional center which consists of split and rotated volumes, each with a central hub and a morphological ,functional and perceptive zipper. To conceptually bind the compound there is a strong sinuous and fascinating sign, the “curve”. The keywords are two: “Anonymity”, bearer of adventure and uncertainty, and “Intimacy”, carrier of safety, security and serenity in relationships. They are the two ingredients for a high-quality urban well-being; the first one with its expectations, the second one with its composure. The idea of Intimate Anonymity that inspired the project demonstrate the purpose of creating a building that, in some ways, can stimulate and trigger a feeling of innovation and curiosity almost of astonishment and confusion but at the same time a cozy space inside, which tempts to passing and stopping.

SUL
TEVERE
Student Centre_ Rome Architectural Design Studio III AA 2007/08 Prof. Enrico Genovesi
The project’s site is the “Flaminio Quarter”, on the north of Rome. An area with interesting morphological (we are situated in a bend of Tiber river), historical and cultural characteristics that distinguish it. I tried to create an easily identifiable building, avoiding the contrast with thE surroundings inspired to an important architectural compounds in the nearby, like the MAXXI of Zaha Hadid. The idea sees some “tapes” surrounding the building with harmonious shapes and, like behind the scenes, alternately reveal the real edifice. Tapes that enlarge on the square in front of the building unifying the high urbanized aspect of the square and the purely natural trait of the bend of the river below. An allure to discover what lies beyond the city, to intrigue through the unrevealed architecture; a path from the city to the river.

Sant’Oliva Church _ Cori Drawing and Representation III AA 2007/08 Prof. Luigi Corvaja
*in collaboration with Michela Lamedica Bernardo Grilli Marta Fea
The compound of “Sant’Oliva” in Cori, brought us to some interesting observations and studies of the historical stratification that a building can reveal. The definitive planimetrical structure, as now appears, turns out to be the product of different executive phases. The original nucleus arised from the ruins of a roman temple and then succeded to a church dedicated to St.Oliva, where were set up the structures of Augustinian Fathers first with the cloister and then the monastery and the chapel. Stages that have led to turmoil of the original installations. That’s why in addition to a careful study of the history and development of the building was put together a research about the previous buildings and their executive phases, from which originated an examination of orthogonality and alignments , as well as the use of ancient measurements such as “pes romanus”, the reports of the Vitruvian Man, the golden section and the harmonic relations.
#4 Boat Terminal _ Viterbo Architectural Design Studio IV AA 2008/09 Prof. Roberto Cherubini *in collaboration with Emanuele Rossi
On the shoreline of Bolsena Lake lies the small village of Capodimonte with its small touristic port for the boat. The project consist of the reconfiguration of the Waterfront with the inclusion of four buildings, each with its own specific function. The concept that defines the project is based on the morphological flows of the site, the “shoves key elements of the place: on one side the lake, on the other, the city with its building. On the grid of parallel lines, on which stands the building, overlaps a unitary path that crosses the entire area, unifying and generating element. To combine it all, the choice of an envelop made of wooden slats both for buildings and for the path which unifies them. This allows a good integration with the lacustrine landscape and the naval port nature.

SANTA LUCIA
Santa Lucia Church _ Rome Restoration Laboratory AA 2008/09 Prof. Maria Grazia Turco *in collaboration with Giulia Gabellini
The restoration project of the Church and the cloister of Santa Lucia in Selci (Rome) starts from a deep study of the site, an area between the Roman Forum and the Esquiline Hill; they are used as main streets/roads of the city since roman times, the ancient Civilus Suburanus. Its identification in ancient cartographies and drawings like the “Forma Urbis”, has allowed (also with the prominence of the building and the study of its history and morphology) a conscious approach of the project. To study the external wall of the building schedule is like reading its story, a clearly legible stratification from travertine pillars of roman tabernae until Borromini’s work inside the Church. The approach to the project follows the teaching of Cesare Brandi on restoration, which begins with a meticulous knowledge of the object of analysis and with a respect for the original techniques and materials. The enhance with the new flooring and lighting complete the conservation of the project.

Undergraduate Dormitory_ ? Interior Design AA 2009/10 Prof. Adolfo Sajeva
The project is based on the foundations of an existing reinforced concrete structure, the Simmon’s Hall by Steven Holl. The basic module chosen measures 6.10 x 6.85 m, duplex, for 4 students. The references in the design were a lot, but basically it was the study of the residential construction works of Waro Kishi. The clever use of volumes, and the ability to make liveable also inhospitable spaces. The choice of the furniture was oriented towards Joe Colombo, who theorizes the house to live according to the needs, that change without limiting the life and the creativity of the users, free of walls and well-defined spaces. Fixed furniture and spaces are tailored as the wooden structure that enclosed the area of the bedroom of the student, which allows the change of the upstairs according to the needs of the occupants.
#7 Music Centre_ Iraklion (Crete) Graduation Thesis AA 2009/10 Relator Prof. Maurizio Petrangeli co_relator Alexios Tzompanakis
The project consist in the inclusion of a Music Centre (Conservatory library/media library, auditorium and two shopping areas) in Betlemme’s bastion of the surrounding wall of the city of Iraklion (Creta). The public area outside is made up of various levels, like the level of the city square and the open-air auditorium above the rampart. The first consideration concerned the elimination of the caesura between the city and the walls, creating connections between the two realities in various levels both inside and outside the building. The bastion is “dug” to accommodate the large auditorium. The flows that start from it generate the layout plan of the building, which is used as a link between the city and the bastion. A large hall is the joint of the whole project, from which lines shaped on the existing citizen “tissue” depart to define the different functions of the building.

#9 Ideas competition for the urban renovation of Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II Salò (Italy) December 2013 *in collaboration with Francesco Pallotto Michele Schiavoni Jonathan Sileoni Fabio Varelli
The request of the competition announcement is to provide planning ideas and theories in order to retrain this important urban space situated in the historical centre of the village and close to Lake Garda. The generator element is the “Pixel”. The term “pixel” indicates each point element that makes up a digital Raster image. Affixed to a real space, as Vittorio Emanuele II’s Square, and repeated “n” times it gives life to dynamic and ever-changing images that conform the space. The use of pixels, or forms, of different sizes also guarantees the formation of open areas. Through alternating seated, green spaces and water games, this setting gains independence. The Pixel do not generate arbitrarily, but considers the history. The whole intervention is inclined to give life to a unitary continuous space, with the presence of different spheres and functions that live individually the square, without ever losing sight of the complexity of it all.

MATEO'S CAFè
Preliminary Plan of restaurant Tolentino (Italy) February 2014 *in collaboration with Francesco Pallotto Michele Schiavoni Jonathan Sileoni Fabio Varelli
@ http://europaconcorsi.com/searcH = viviana+muzi
The interior of the building is characterized by a sort of weakness in some features, that, if solved, could turn into a real strong point. The entrance to the lower level should be screened to prevent the current introspection. Moreover, ther is the need to create two separate spaces between the ground floor and the basement downstairs. This is achievable through the use of shielded elements made os wood and iron provided in the elaborated designed solution. The necessity to have a kichinette and grillet meat, creates the opportunity to bring to life a new perspective from the entrance. The plasterboard panel reshapes the stairs decreasing the width scale, too disproportionate to the size of the place. Its rotation pushes the customer’s sight towards the grill, that becomes the heart of the local. Another distinguishing feature is the wine bar, where guests can sip a good wine sitting at the counter or at the table.

DM_ KM 278
Fourth edition of “Demanio Marittimo - km 278 Marzocca di Senigallia (Italy) May 2014 *in collaboration with Margherita Gavazzi
The planning idea was born directly from the principles of Demanio Marittimo –km 278, and the desire to represent through the architecture the interwining of relations, dialogues and ideas overlap in this occasion of meeting between the region “Marche” and the world. Demanio Marittimo turns into a sort of “loom”, a machine in which weave the threads of speeches, articles and comparisons. Dialogues intersected as the red wires that cross the beach and embrace the functions, or as the white ones that envelop the circles. The red filaments accommodate us from the seafront, and accompany us from the showing area up to the stage, along our path in the event; the white ones draw functions, exhibitors and seated. Since we are on the beach, facing the sea, the wires become tense cables or sails moved by the wind to suggest the image and the atmosphere of a sailboat, the “looms” and the trees of wood to suggest the boat hulls or decks on the strand. So, enjoy your trip to Demanio Marittimo –km 278 !!
