Disney+ Hotstar Working on Mahabharat Series

Walt Disney Co. is filming a series based on the classic and ancient Indian poem, the epic Sanskrit poem Mahabharat, which tells the tale of a warring dynasty, the Pandavas and the Kauravas, will be released in 2024, Gaurav Banerjee, head of content at Disney+ Hotstar said at the media giant’s threeday D23 extravaganza in California last month.

Madhu Mantena, one of the series producers said, “For centuries Indian epics have captured the imagination of billions around the world. These epics are deeply woven into the very fabric of our nation. The ‘Mahabharata’ – one of the oldest epics in India, despite being as old as time, is still relevant today for the many lessons and words of wisdom hidden within its ancient verses.”

Maja Ma

Maja Ma is a family film set against the celebratory backdrop of a traditional festival and a colorful Indian wedding. The film is directed by Anand Tiwari and written by Sumit Batheja and is a thought-provoking drama with unexpected twists and turns. Veteran actress Madhuri Dixit plays the protagonist. The film also features Gajraj Rao, Ritwik Bhowmik, Barkha Singh, Srishti Shrivastava, Rajit Kapur, Malhar Thakar and Ninad Kamat. It streams on October 6, 2022.

Goodbye

Vikas Bahl directs evergreen actor Amitabh Bachchan, along with Rashmika Mandanna, and Sunil Grover in a heart-warming story about life, family, and relationships. Look for the movie to hit the screens globally on October 7, 2022. The movie, set in the 1930s, follows three friends who witness a murder, become suspects themselves, and uncover one of the most outrageous plots in American history. David O Russell directs Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, John David Washington, and Robert De Niro. The film is set for release on October 7, 2022.

The Ghost

An ex-Interpol officer wreaks havoc and sends shock waves across the global underworld but goes missing in action, only to remerge years later, for his beloved family. Nagarjuna Akkineni, Manish Chaudhari, Ravi Varma, and Srikanth Iyengar star in the Praveen Sattaru directed film that opens on October 7, 2022.

Ram Setu

Akshay Kumar stars in the story of an archaeologist who has sets out to explore whether the Ram Setu bridge is a myth or a reality. The movie, directed by Abhishek Sharma, also stars Jacqueline Fernandez, and Nushrratt Bharuccha. It is slated for release on October 24, 2022.

Thank God

Ajay Devgn, Sidharth Malhotra, and Rakul Preet Singh star in the comedy drama about a couple of goofy, kind-hearted men as they try to reform society. The movie, directed by Indra Kumar, opens on October 24, 2022.

Last Film Show

India’s official entry to the upcoming 95th Academy Awards was announced in September and the Gujarati film Last Film Show (Chhello Show) was named as the official entry to the Best International Feature Film category. Directed by Pan Nalin, the film is a drama about the charm of the Indian state of Gujarat. It is also an homage to the cinema of the past. The film stars Vikas Bata, Bhavin Rabari, Richa Meena, and Rahul Koli. Last Film Show had its world premiere as the opening film at Robert DeNiro’s Tribeca Film Festival.
