Kemipol

Rebranding and Communication Materials Overall Quality Kemipol srl is a chemical company that produces thinners and cleaners with a 45-year long history. While it had been consistently highly productive, it presented itself with a neglected brand identity, thus with the awareness of a need for a new communication style. Creativity The logo, as well as the design, packaging, and stationery, have all been revamped. All that deals with Kemipol, has now a common thread. A new catalog, a new list, and a new product line. Design Quality The corporate colors strongly connected to the brand have been identified. Every time the logo is used now showcases Kemipol in its own identity. In just 14 months of work, the company has regained market shares and trust in the sale networks, as it is evident in the results in terms of profits. Project Complexity Throughout the years, the logo had often been reworked without a clear parameter. The products did not stand out on the shops’ shelves. The goal was clearly to give a new perception between clients and suppliers to the overall image of the Company. To do that we have tried to force ideas to stand out from the crowd by creating original content and marketing activities, for example, the Improve your Performance campaign with the energy drink can or the 45 Anniversary drums, made by using special edition thinners cans.

BtoBet

Visual Identity Social Media Campaigns and Art Direction Overall Quality BtoBet is a multinational iGaming and Sports betting technology provider with the ambition to become one of the most recognizable corporate identity on the market. Creativity BtoBet launched its new campaign Technifying iGaming Tour 2018. Its development took place in London. It was based on the campaign that had been devised the previous year. A robotic hand image has evolved into a full-body humanoid, with real human eyes. Functionality becomes competence, helpfulness becomes benevolence, and reliability becomes integrity. Design Quality The image is a representation of the perfect combination of computer science and human ability, a mix that will make sure that customers enjoy a substantial brand impact in the market. Project Complexity The challenge was to define an original BtoBet android character that could not be confused with other forms of Artificial Intelligence already presents in the market. We did many sketches and then we decided to build a robot with a logo engraved in its chest and blue muscles and fibers in accordance with the BtoBet corporate colors.

Selfie Distraction

Photography and Art Direction Overall Quality The Salerno Biennial of Art is a relatively young art show which takes place in the beautiful and historical Fruscione palace. Every 2 years many artists (about 800 in 2018), from all over the world meet in Salerno to take part in the art exhibition. The project won the first prize in the photography section. Creativity Life is a heartbeat. It runs as fast as a car on a deserted road. Sharing cannot wait. Now, more than ever one can see people driving while answering the phone or texting messages risking their life and that of others. Design Quality The idea was to create an image with a great social impact using cold colours and a strong desaturation treatment. At a first sight, one can see a good looking, smiling woman, while taking a selfie beside her car but, at a deeper sight, it is possible to notice that the girl had a car accident, she is wounded and his friend lies unconscious. Project Complexity To realize the project we risked a complaint by the police at every minute of the shooting. To carry out the staging, it was necessary to bring a not working car partially destroyed on the road we used as a set with a tow truck and then we cracked the windshield to show the interior of the car. The preproduction phase took almost 2 months.

Kemiclean

Graphic design and Art Direction Overall Quality Kemiclean is a brand dedicated to the hygiene and sanitation of people and places. The ambition of these products is to find room between professional cleaning and supermarket distribution. Creativity This new brand borrows the first characters of its holding company and utilizes a more familiar and welcoming font. The word “clean has been italicized to symbolize speed. The graphic format creates dynamic lines, thus giving a perception of dynamism and movement. The choice in colours offers a sense of hygiene and cleanliness. Design Quality The labels and the design overall are aimed at conveying a sense of cleanliness and freshness. All the elements in the design create a sense of continuity with the brand. Project Complexity We have worked in a moment of great emergency to create these products. Because of the sanitary emergency due to the propagation of the Covid-19 virus, most of the products, labels, rendering, and packaging have been assembled in an extremely short time to fulfill the massive demands. The ability to handle work under pressure has become a definite strength for the Company.

VAGNARELLI HOME STAGER

Brand Design Graphic Design and Photography Overall Quality Laura Vagnarelli is a professional home stager and a reference point for luxury real estate agencies and clients who have to goal of having their real estate assessed on a stylistic point of view. Creativity An effective and stylish logo, as well as a personal image were needed to attract the attention of a high-end clientele. The creative end of the project is to aim at introducing the home stager and show her face, without any filters. She is the way she looks like in the picture. Design Quality The logo, the texture, and the materials all gear towards elegance, moderation, expertise, and know-how. The home staging profession is not popular yet, therefore the whole project’s goal is to make the benefits such professionalism can bring to the value of real estate available to the public. Project Complexity Laura was not exactly open to the possibility of having to appear on her website and the promotional materials. A high-quality team was necessary to make her feel at ease so that she could show herself for who she really is. It is crucial to select the right partners to achieve such results.

Creativity The video is inviting us to be part of something that is going to happen or telling us something we should absolutely be. For example “Be Smart”, “Take the opportunity”, “Be young” or something similar. Who wouldn’t want to be “smart”? Who wouldn’t want to make the right choice or take a great opportunity? Design Quality Clickon is a call to action. It means doing something for your future and the future of your loved ones. Clickon if you want to change, if you want to go further. Clickon stimulates interaction! Clickon has got a red symbol as a graphic reference, which stands for “O”. The “O” can be moved before the “K” in “Click” so that it becomes “Ok”. “Ok” is the universally recognized symbol of approval. A red button will become the best way to express one’s own choice, the smart choice. Project Complexity The focus of the video is to communicate an inspired vision in product development, as well as attention to the environment, the youngest generations and people in general. Orbits Music Video

Production Design and Video Direction Overall Quality Orbits is a music project created by Ben Dover and Paolo Di Sabatino. Jazz and electronic music meet to produce new acoustic spaces. Creativity The video features actress and pole dancer Valeria Bonalume who, at first, appears tired and bored; she falls, then gets back up. She would rather be anywhere else. The two spectators behind her are incredulous. Then the music starts playing, making the protagonist get her strength back and projecting her into another space, in which she is alone with the whirling movements of her dance. Design Quality The woman’s sinuous dancing creates spirals and swirls that take her and those around her to a new galaxy, on an imaginary journey, making any worries and insecurities disappear. Everything changes, the dark background opens, uncovering bright stars and distant worlds. The music stops playing. The idea was to create a connection between the CD cover and the video using the same color palette and visual reminder Project Complexity Making a low budget video is always a challenge. Hiring professionals, thinking of logistics, storyboard, set design and camera movement takes a huge versatility. The whole video was recorded in studio. The black background was built only for the shooting.

Kelly Joyce music video

Art and Video Direction Overall Quality This is the production of the new single by the French/African singer Kelly Joyce. The song is a bonus track from the album of jazz musician Paolo Di Sabatino “Trace Elements”. A singer of international fame, Kelly regularly appears on TV shows. Her single “Vivre la Vie” was a worldwide hit single. Creativity The entire video turns around the sensual and good-looking shape of Kelly. By wearing different outfits, she splits into different characters. The overall idea was not to follow a story but only to create something as charming, posh, stylish, and pleasing to the eye, as she is. Design Quality To achieve the goal, the video was completed using both handwritten and computer-based typography. Some words of the song became the motion graphic background of Kelly movements. The inspiration for the video came from fashion TV show and beauty product commercials. Project Complexity Every designer or image maker knows the importance of the horizon line when creating every kind of image. To get the best result in terms of framing and to facilitate the graphic design and editing, the entire video was shot using a platform and a single camera point.

Linergy

Graphic design and Art Direction Overall Quality Born in 2004, Linergy produces emergency lights for companies, shopping centres and large areas. The care the company puts in its image has always been a distinctive characteristic within its market. The goal of Linergy Stile is to tackle other types of markets and clients. Creativity With Linergy Stile, the company addresses a wider clientele made not only of technicians but also young couples who are in the process of building their house and professionals in general. Its look, on the whole, must be more attractive and able to convey functionality and elegance at the same time. Design Quality Linergy Stile must be in line with the other products of the company, yet it must be different. Small but precise changes have been made. The products’ image processing obtained with sharp and contrasts and lens flare effects enhance the products’ technological and formal features. Project Complexity Linergy Stile adds elegance to products that generally do not stand out for their design and refinement. The company has aimed at bringing the new lights to the next level compared to its products as well as the competitors’. The choice of black as a colour was a very difficult issue to overcome. There had been several trials of nuances to get to the final colour processing.

I SOLISTI AQUILANI

Brand Design Graphic design and Art Direction Overall Quality Born in 1970, the chamber orchestra of The Aquileian Soloists represents one of the most recognized Italian bands abroad. After a 50-year long respectable career, the artistic director decided to revamp the style of the ensemble’s image. Creativity Music is creativity, as well as movement repetition and dynamism. In tackling the project, the movements that produce sounds and a feeling of awe were pivotal. A chamber orchestra demands precision in its execution and fruition. However, what produces a sense of amazement is the soloist virtuosity as well as the creative flair. Design Quality The aim is to represent the creative flair behind the art of creating sounds through simple, clean and linear movements. Its symbol has been reproduced on a red background. Such colour conveys the passion of all types of music lovers. The very movement depicted there in different portions will be reproduced in all institutional formats. Project Complexity In approaching such an important institution, the feeling of respect can be an obstacle to new ideas and intuitions. After an initial fear, the flux of ideas was perceived and shared by all the involved parties.

Smeraldo Cinema

Brand and Graphic Design Overall Quality This is without a doubt the most important multiplex in the town it is located in. After 40 years, the building underwent a total renovation. Its logo, as well as the screening rooms were completely rebuilt. Creativity “7” is the number of the ancient and modern wonders of the world. It is also the number that denotes the year of birth of the “Smeraldo” cinema (1977). 7 is also the number of its screening rooms. It is a modern building beloved by the town inhabitants. Its symbol reclaims such modernity and the combination in typography looks to the billboards of the past, with the use of the Bodoni font. Design Quality In its concept, the logo is constituted by a film twirling in itself and forming a shape that resembles the side of a precious stone (“Smeraldo” means “emerald” in Italian), that can also be seen as an arrow aiming towards the sky, as a symbol of success. Tradition and modernity coexist in a project that uses the nuances the owners used in the past for their marketing. Project Complexity It was a real challenge having to work with a well-established architecture firm and discuss ideas and color choices, not to mention the difficulty encountered in obtaining the computer-generated material to promote ideas that could be approved by the owners. The rendering of one of the screening rooms used for the reopening press release was created by one of my suppliers to minimize any waste of time.

PHONE ADDICTED

Freehand and Vector Illustration Overall Quality Phone Addicted is a personal project born after the Selfie Distraction project. The free-hand drawing is often the starting point for any project I decide to embark on. Maintaining a regular training of one’s hand is critical. Creativity Smartphones and social networks have radically changed our way of interacting with others. It does not matter how old one is or what one’s social status and background are, phones are “partners” everyone lives with. The drawings of this section show different situations in which the detachment from reality becomes obsessive and dangerous. Such a condition has been amplified by the use of desaturated and tone-on-tone colors. Design Quality The drawings are freehand in its origin and then they were transferred and inked on the computer utilizing Adobe Illustrator. The base-color has been obtained with Adobe Illustrator as well. The effects have been created with Photoshop. Project Complexity Personal project, or as I call them “research and development projects” represent a crucial part of my work as a creative. These are projects that often aim at testing new languages and styles such as photography, illustration, and sound which allow me to keep an adequate level of preparation when interacting with other creative minds. However, the task of having to manage one’s timing to have enough room to work on other projects is extremely challenging.

VISIONS art exhibition

Concept and Photography Overall Quality Visions is a photographic project of 12 portraits created for an exhibit. Each portrait depicts a professional extremely knowledgeable in their discipline. A 3D artist, a photographer, a make-up artist, a hairstylist, and many more have been photographed. Creativity Everyone who performs his or her job with passion and drive hides sides that they are not willing to show other people. In Visions, everyone accepted to “get naked in front of the eye of the photographer to appear the way the photographer sees them, with their fears and imperfections. Design Quality Although Visions is a portrait project, each portrait is different from the others under several aspects. Colors and frames are built to show a multitude of facets. The entire project generates a varied path in the world of creativity and its protagonists. Project Complexity Each portrait carried several issues, this is why the layout drawing beforehand became a very important element to get all the material and equipment for the set. The ultimate goal was not to retouch any of the pictures, so everything was done on set. Due to various reasons, the project was carried out in almost a year.

LOSTDAZE

Concept and Photography Overall Quality Lost Daze is a music project with a heavy electronic component and its case is a creative experiment on the whole. Creativity Creativity lies in the ability to consistently put one’s skills under pressure, by pushing the envelope anytime that is possible. When such a thing is not possible in a person’s day-to-day routine job, finding an outlet to express one own’s alternative expressivity becomes necessary. The protagonist in the cover represents such desire of affirming one’s need to express the individual’s creativity. Design Quality The outfit is a unique piece that has been designed and sewn for the shooting only. Every image created for the cover has been drawn and shared with the whole crew during production. Project Complexity Managing all the production steps from the character and logo drawing to the creation of the outfit, as well as the fitting of the outfit and all the aspects related to make-up and hairstyle and the handling of timing and lights, was an important challenge.

TOMMY Handle with Care

Concept and Photography Overall Quality Tommy is a photographic project developed in 6 panels. It was created for the exhibit titled: “Art for Justice” in Cava De’ Tirreni, Italy. The theme of the exhibit is disability. Creativity Tommy can’t move nor speak. He lives on a wheelchair from which he might fall any minute. The theme of disability is seen through the eye of those who have to deal with people with extreme cognitive problems. They are parents, brothers, sisters who cannot fill the void their loved ones experience. Design Quality The puppet was drawn and sewn for the shooting only. The images were designed specifically to avoid showing the human component in order to give a sense of extreme loneliness. Project Complexity The shooting took place at the mountains and at by the sea in one day going from one place to the other. Some photos were taken at sunset and in the middle of the night with the aim of capturing the specific features of the environment at specific times.
