POSTGRADUATE PROJECTS
THE MORASINSI’S WINERY GARDEN Project and realization 2018
7
The Morasinsi’s winery begins thanks to my family’s wishes, above all my brother’s determination, to help develop the lands of Murge and to improve his visibility. The aim is to make wine out of quality grapes produced in our vineyard in this Apulian area. The concept of the realisation of a mediterranean garden was given by the desire to increase the value of the architecture and to give to the visistors a sensitive experience of our mediterranean land. The shapes of the garden are in opposition with the architecture, and they create different flower beds and open curvy spaces. The www.morasinsi.it
big open free areas will be used, in the future, for tastings and other events. The plant species choosen for the project are local plants of the Mediterranean forest and some foreign completely suited to our climate. The aim was to join the most of mediterranen species creating a little oasis and a place of quiet into this Apulian land.

Opposition between the curved lines of the garden and the regularity of the architecture.
The design of the circles, used as relax and tasting areas, with their paths, reproduces the shape of the grapes.
11
VEGETATION SELECTION CRITERIA
Local and non-native species suitable for the climate of the site, have been used, which are resistant to hot and dry summers and to cold winters days too.
Medium and high plants visible from below and so as not to obstruct the vineyards view
Olive trees are planned
High plants to hide the heat-pumps
Low plants with a smal root system for the green roof Medium and low plants on the border of the paths
High shrubs to hide the rainwater harvesting systems
High shrubs at the area free of windows
Low plant to ensure that there are no impediments on the facade
An appropriate irrigation system has been contemplated and installed into the flower beds, with leaky pipes, and with pop-up sprinklers for the lawn areas.
Medium and low plants on the border and high shrubs in the middle of the bed. High shrubs for a surprise effect coming from the entrance

ACADEMIC PROJECTS
A NEW OPEN SPACE SYSTEM The reuse of the post-industrial area of the old Cartiera Mediterranea and of the East coast in Barletta. Master thesis 2018
25
The project proposal for the realization of the multifunctional urban park, through the requalification of the East Coast, the recovery and functional transformation of the old Cartiera Mediterranea industry, allows the visual and functional restoration of the connection with water, the conservation and valorisation of the local identity and the architectural requalification of the abandoned industrial area. The requalification of the waterfront offers a new environmental and functional structure of the connection with sea, integrating the lack of some functions https://issuu.com/sabinegeier/docs/tesi_33368afb14719c
and the fragmentation of existing areas of interest, while guaranteeing the integration of the waterfront and the urban park with the city, upgrading its equipment and realising new fuctional areas and different ways of use.

The project evolved from the Workshop of management, enhancement and conservation of alpin landscapes, held in the city of Torgnon, at the end of the master studies. The work has been dealt with from a team of 20 students, divided in groups, each with a focus on a different issue. The project consists of finding the best strategies for the development and promotion of the city, through targeted analysis, project proposals and the realisation of new communication channels. The aim of the project was the seasonal adjustement of tourism, the increasemant of the summer team: S.Geier, E.Mezzano, N.Sortino

CONNECTING FRAGMENTS Lab. of Project and management of urban green areas 2016/2017
53
The project “Music and arts axis is organised in an East-West direction on the axis Villa Glori-Monte Mario. The objective is the development of this area in Rome in which take place important modern and contemporany architecture builings. In the project, the connection between the two green areas is combined with the distribution of activities among the cultural facilities situated in the area.

54
The project area has been for longtime affected by a turn of events which had lead to the characterization of the place. The area was occupied by the agricultural Flaminia land, by the Expo, then by the Olympic Games, and in the last years more and more by cultural centres. The concept is based on this succession of events, divided in three layers, each of which represents a design in the project.

WATERFRONT REGENERATION Lab. of landscape design 2015/2016
61
The project area includes Kennedy Square and Rossetti Square, in the Foce district of Genoa. The site is located in a strategic position for his centrality and for his importance and fragility on the morfologic, eco-systemic and environmental point of view. The area is actually in a state of decline: Kennedy Square is occasionally a parking area and a lunapark; Rossetti Square instead rapresents the dense edificated urban waterfront. The aim of the project is to create a visual and pratical connection with the sea and with the actual promenade of Corso Italia. team: G.Congia, G.Demelas, N.Formica, S.Geier, D.Mazzei

WILD GARDENS
Contemporany architecture design 2015/2016
71
The project is a simulation of a competition for the staging of areas related with the garden and landscape design. The installation has a rectangular shape of 12.50 X 20 meters, bounded by hedges or herbal plants, 1,50 m high. The area has to have one entrance and a dominant point of view. The space has to offer unexpected visual glimpses and sequences.

THE NATURAL RESERVE
Atelier of landscape analysis, evaluation and representation 2015/2016
75
The project is based on the analyses for the enlargement of the Natural Reserve of the Po, Orco and Malone rivers confluence. The area of interest fits into the Turin section of the Po River Park and belongs to the city of Chivasso. Even though it is located in a urban context, between the two cities of Chivasso and Brandizzo, nearly the highway and the railway, the area preserves a high level of naturality. The shores of the rivers are very valuable in terms of their biodiversity in general and bird life in particular. For these reasons the area is considered team: T.Chen, N.Formica, S.Geier, D.Mazzei, F.Tabanelli
SIC and ZPS area, but despite his centrality, the site has not a fully exploiting of his the potential.
