Dear Friends, Welcome to the 2012-2013 Silver Anniversary Season honoring my 25th year as Artistic Director of the Sacramento Ballet. It’s a party all year long beginning September 15th with the Ron Cunningham 25th Anniversary Celebration and Birthday Bash at The California Museum. The Anniversary Season continues non-stop all year long with fabulous parties and special events celebrating a quarter century of dedication to artistic excellence. Known widely for my story based ballets, Carinne and I have chosen two of my all time favorite creations, Romeo & Juliet and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Two more of my favorites include George Balanchine’s sassy Western Symphony to American folk tunes and Who Cares? to the Broadway inspired music of George Gershwin. I am most excited about creating a brand new work based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s definitive American novel, The Great Gatsby, with live music performed by Billy Novick’s Blue Syncopators. Modern Masters/Protégés features former dancers that Carinne and I have nurtured and given their first opportunities to create new works. And, of course no season would be complete without the crown jewel of our repertory, The Nutcracker. As always we will be reaching out into the community and impacting the lives of children through our Community Engagement efforts and Arts Education programs, none of which would be possible without your ongoing generous support. Thank you for 25 great years and counting. Ron Cunningham & Carinne Binda Artistic Directors
