Tempranillo - New Release

2018 Saddler's Tempranillo

HILLTOPSPronouced 'TEM-PRA-NEE-YO'

The dominant red grape in Rioja, Spain, this famous Spanish grape variety produces a medium to full bodied red wine. Tempranillo is the fourth-most planted variety in the world and is considered one of the nine red noble grapes. In Australia, it's no longer an experimental variety and is fast becoming a popular wine.

This wine has a lovely bright garnet colour, heady aromas of fresh dark berries with highlights of white mountain pepper. The palate is savoury with medium weight, grippy tannins followed by delicious lingering black fruits. It is a complex wine which seems to evolve in the glass. We love this wine because of it's drinkability on it's own, while being hugely versatile with food. The tannin structure works to wipe the palate clean when paired with fatty meat dishes and balances well with spicy foods.

The 2018 Saddler's Tempranillo will develop complexity quite quickly in bottle and suits medium term cellaring.
