Humble Offering

This e-book is a humble offering to the Lord in loving memory of my dear father, Mohandas Tarachand Samtani (a/k/a Andy Mohan) who departed for his heavenly abode on November 13, 2013. These notes were taken during Dada’s visit to the New York, New Jersey area in 2013. Please excuse and forgive any discrepancies in translation and transcription. These notes were prepared to share Dada’s message to all, especially, those who missed his programs. Dada Shyam Jyoti Nebhnani www.nourishingspoon.com

Raksha Bandhan

God do not grant me the evil which I ask from you, but grant me the good that I don’t ask for.

Rakhee ~ A silk thread which has shakti. When you tie the thread, say a mantra.

Sit in silence. You tell me when you sit in silence your mind wonders and old thoughts come. Our minds go where our hearts are. The mind sways to desires. We don’t give time to God. In silence, you will receive an idea which will be the answer to your problems.

Woman is the picture of shakti. Must say a mantra which brings shakti. Message for Raksha Bandhan: Why not try God? Try God. If you are with me, what worries do I have?

Janmashtami Eve Tomorrow is the long anticipated day of Sri Krishna’s birthday. Sri Krishna loved gardens. He used to talk to the trees and named plants. The plants were very happy and wanted to know when Sri Krishna would come and speak to them.

“I love you my tree. I love you my plants.” The plants also spoke, “We also love you Krishna.”

Janmashtami Devotion

Belong to Krishna

Everything comes from God. Let us ask for devotion of God.

Janmashtami Thought ~ belong to someone. Belong to Krishna.

I come to the Lord with all my imperfections. Make me, mold me…so that you are not ashamed of me.

Bhakti is true raksha. Bhakti is the shield of the Lord.

The Lord says he has opened his store, just come and ask.

Bhakti jo kano kafi. One grain of devotion is sufficient. Ask and you will be given.

Let us belong to someone so He can bless us and take care of us and give us company.

Janmashtami The Lord descended on earth in human form 5,000 years ago.

Love gives us a slap and we think the Lord is a butcher.

God himself walked over the earth.

Sri Krishna was the epitome of love and gave his love to those we think shareef.

Krishna loved each and everyone. Love has two faces. One which we know and we wish we have. Vishnu Roop.

One day when he exited the house of a prostitute, he responded to those watching him. “A doctor goes to the sick. You are rich and don’t need me as these...”

Janmashtami Sri Krishna used to massage horses, love plants. Today on Sri Krishna’s birthday, in India in each corner, each temple, in each state, people are celebrating. Janmashtami. Two words. The 8th day. Born on the 8th day of the (Smvana) month.

Inaugural Satsang 82 years ago on the sacred 1931 Janmashtami, Sadhu Vaswani performed the inaugural satsang. Sadhu Vaswani with his hands lit the aarti and read the first aadesh.

Never forget God. Who does not remember God, his heart is like a dry well, like a mandir where no diya is lit. Every satsangee should keep the Lord in his heart. Poor and all creation, birds and animals are faces of the Lord. The meat which you cook with masala (spices) in your home are the broken faces of the Lord.

Two Aadeshs I know not if the satsangees observe these two aadeshs. Worship all creation. The birds and animals ~ they belong to the creation of one family.

Place God in your heart. Never forget Him. Let the thought of God be in the background as you work. Hope you can make an effort to observe these points.

You Can Do Whatever You want You can do whatever you want. Our ego has troubled us, yet we love it and embrace it as our best friend.

For a small thing we get upset and forget God. No, we are not so low. We are greater!

We need to leave the ahinkar (ego) and surrender at the feet of God.

Our ego is the sense of sorrow and frustration. If ego is gone, we would be among the happiest people on earth.

Man - ego = God God + ego = Man

Tie a Knot with God One practice is prayer, which is more powerful than atomic energy. Sad that we do not take advantage of this. We should create a relationship with God, any sort of relationship connected to the Lord. The choice is yours as to which relationship you want. Make God real to yourself in your daily life.

I am (Dada is) willing to support or join you in this relationship. (Dada has a relationship with God as his mother.) “Prabhu, this is my problem, this is my request... These little turnings will make your life spiritual.

Power of Prayer Don't pray in haste. It is a waste unless you are in difficulty, not otherwise. Keep praying. If no answer, time is not right. Go to Him for everything and take advantage of this relationship. God is with all of you. Every experience is good. Mother can't punish.

Shortcut to God Did you take a few steps closer to the Lord? Each new day comes to you as a gift from the spotless hands of the Lord. We drift apart but we should yearn for the Lord. Awaken your yearning and call him with pyasa.

Shortcut to the Lord is to yearn for the Lord. Just as a lover yearns for his beloved, a miser for gold, or a lost child for his mother. Everything good comes from the Lord. YEARN FOR GOD

Have You Prepared for Death? One thing we are certain ~ each day takes us closer to our death. Death is when the vessel is empty of all breaths. Have you prepared for death? What preparations should we do? Each departed one tells us to prepare. Stay in remembrance…on the path of righteousness.

At the end we should be thinking of God ~ our last thought. Always stay in remembrance. Do not wait for the last minute to prepare for the exam. Study daily so that when the test comes, you are well prepared. Can be any thought each day, i.e., “Ek Onkar…” If just one word – “OM” ॐ

OM ॐ There is magic in Om. In the Jap Sahib it says that the one who says the Nam is far from worries. Say any (holy) word or thought then get up from bed. Or say, “Deena bandhu deena nath, meri dori theri hath.” If you can do this hourly, very good. It takes only 3 seconds. Yet, you might forget.

An easy way to remember is to do this at least 5 times a day ~ • When you wake up • Before breakfast • Before lunch • Before dinner • Before going to bed

Religion ~ Let Us Talk Less of It and Practice More We need education of the right kind. We should teach each other and our children how to live. We place our focus on silver and gold, instead of character. We need education for life. I (Dada) wish(es) that Sadhu Vaswani Center would have a school (for this).

Future lies in education not politics. We need to know the right way to live. Easy to earn fame and name, but that is left behind. Sept 11 should alert us to what humans do ~ all in the name of religion. It is not religion that has failed us, but we have failed religion.

Man-Mana Bhava Man-mana bhava ~ Come unto me.

Call Krishna by any name, but keep a relationship with God using that name.

These are the most important words in the Gita. We run to our friends, doctors, family but not to God. “Come unto me and I will solve all your problems.”

God doesn’t want temples, etc. All he wants is our hearts. Have you ever told God, “I love you?” Girls tell boys and vice-a-versa.

We have tried many things to solve our problems, but we have not tried God.

Tell God, “I love you, I want to love you, more and more…”

3 Keys to Blissful Life Sadhu Vaswani says: 1. Remember God in everything you do. Give your heart to the One Beloved. Toh vasté. Toh vasté. Do everything as an offering to the Lord.

2. Create any type of relationship with God. Make God real to yourself. As we create and strengthen our relationship with God, we will accept all as prasād. There is a meaning of mercy in everything that happens. God is too loving to punish. 3. Help one another.
