SAE/PR signs research partnership in the area of immigration
The Secretariat for Strategic Affairs of the Presidency of Republic (SAE/PR) and the EMDOC Specialized Services signed, this Wednesday (1/71), a research partnership for the development of the study “Hiring Foreign Labor Force in Brazil: an analysis of Brazilian enterprises”. The objective is to interview over 200 enterprises that have hired immigrant workers over the past few years. This novelty study will present the vision of a representative set of enterprises on the main difficulties in this process. The information is of great importance to improve the country´s Immigration Policy, a topic of strategic relevance for Brazil. The entrance of a qualified foreign labor force may generate, amongst various benefits, an increase in productivity and in the technological capacity of the productive sector. Furthermore, the research is in line with SAE/PR’s competency and strategic objectives. It contains information and proposals of national long term planning, as well as strategic options for the Country, and actions between Government and Society to formulate a national strategy for long term development. Also, the study will be of great use to the Commission created and coordinated by SAE/PR. The Commission evaluates matters such as: i) the relevance of immigration for Brazil, ii) the Country´s potential for attracting immigrants, iii) the immigrant market in the world, iv) the work alternatives for a foreigner in Brazil (requirements and migration legislation), and v) the current procedure to immigrate to Brazil (strengths and weaknesses of the migration policy). The EMDOC was chosen due to its expertise (highly specialized). It has over 26 years of experience in the immigration field in Brazil, transference of Brazilians abroad, and reallocation. The consulting company has around 220 employees – most of which bilingual – that work exclusively with international mobility, and provide assistance to more than 700 enterprises. Besides having published various articles, the EMDOC has edited several book of the theme of mobility of persons: ‘The Foreigner in Brazil – Legislation and Comments’, which’s 5th edition will be published by the end of 2012; ‘Success Factors in a Transference Abroad’, which’s 2nd edition is also to be published by the end of the year; ‘The ABC for Foreigners in Brazil’, which’s 3rd edition is also to be published by the end of the year; ‘Seagoing Vessels’, 1st edition; ‘Brazil and Japan – immigration and visas’, 1st edition; ‘Brazil and China – immigration and visas’, 1st edition.
