Tricks

Guess Who! The Community People Set figures (page 17) are placed randomly in the middle of a group of 3 to 4 players. Each player in turn thinks of a character and describes its physical features, job, age, clothes, e.g. “this person has … .” The player who guesses the character can keep the figure and place it on a building plate.

Crazy Golf Help the children build a crazy golf course using LEGO DUPLO® elements from the Tubes Experiment Set (page 6). The children then have to hit various gates, obstructions, etc., using the balls. The older children can even introduce a point system.

Find the animals Place various animals from the Wild Animals Set (page 14) in a pillowcase and ask the children to take turns at using their sense of touch to determine which animal they want to remove from the bag. The child can then briefly explain how he or she worked out what it was, what sounds it makes, what it eats, where it lives, etc., and the other children can chip in with other facts that might not have been mentioned.

Colours of and decorative designs on elements may vary.

Did you know that children develop their spatial intelligence very effectively through playing with LEGO bricks? And did you know that spatial intelligence is a prerequisite for e.g. reading maps?
