Advisory Change
In previous years, advisory has been once a day every day directly after first block. This year advisory is only once a week on Wednesday's. This change in the schedule has had many kids heartbroken because they do not get to see their advisory friends.

Schedule Change Another change that was made this year was to the schedule. The school now has a hybrid schedule. The schedule has shortened core classes to 45 minutes all year long and electives remain an hour and a half. With the schedule change, some students have as many as eight classes a day.

There are no two people who dress the same. This year's fashion trends range from circle scarfs to shirts with fringe. Although fashion trends are always changing, Springfield students manage to stay on trend.

Frosh Hop
Everyone knows the frosh hop as the dance where upperclassmen try to find a freshman to take them. No matter how uncomfortable the couple, the frosh hop is the place to be. This year frosh took place in the SHS Cafeteria on Saturday, October 15th.

German American Partnership Program
Kids at Springfield High School hosted students from Germany for two weeks during the school year. Some of the hosting students also visited Germany over the summer and stayed with the kids they hosted here in Springfield. New friends and memories were made. Everyone had a great time and some German exchange students are even coming back to visit this summer!

Juniors The juniors tried their hardest and kept their spirits up throughout the entire game even though they were defeated by the seniors.

Seniors
Everyone involved in the senior vs. junior powder puff football game tried their hardest, but the seniors came out on top. They won 36 to 20. Both sides had wonderful coaches and all of the money raised went to Dance Marathon.

Homecoming Homecoming at SHS is a tradition where students dress up for Spirit Week and all of the classes compete to see who can get the most people to participate. On Friday, the competition continues at the Homecoming Pep-Rally where there are many activites including a rope-pulling contest, a basketball shot contest, a teacher pyramid contest, and a performance from the Varsity cheerleaders. Finally, the homecoming court is announced in front of the student body and the football team is wished good luck. Later on that night the Homecoming game is played under the lights.

The Fall Play: Journey to the Day The play is about patients in a mental hospital who are all on their journey to the day of recovery. The play went off without a hitch. The cast and crew worked very hard make the play a success.

For the second year in a row Springfield recieved the honor of performing at the prestigious Carnegie Hall.
Snow Dance Juniors and seniors alike, danced the night away in a winter wonderland otherwise known as snow dance. The dance was great and everyone had an amazing time!

Alternative Beverage Day Hosted by SADD, Alternative Beverage Day is a great way to kick off winter break. It focuses on food, music, and especially drinks such as hot cocoa and lemonade. Students are reminded that there are other beverages than alcohol and get to have a fun time before they are off from school.

42nd Street This year's spring musical, 42nd Street, ran from March 1st through 4th and featured a number of talented students. It was an added challenge that most of the dance numbers included tap dancing and extravagent sets, yet the students and staff worked hard to pull it off. Overall, it was a great success and was enjoyed by many.

Cheerleading at SHS had progressively gotten better over the past few years and had evolved into a fantastic season for both our Varsity and JV teams. With the largest amount of girls the program has ever had, the teams cheered on the football and basketball teams while preparing themselves for an amazing competition season. The 2012 competition season ended at Central League with both teams placing and hitting nearly flawless routines. Some JV and Varsity girls at UCA Cheer Camp before school started in the Summer.

Field Hockey All of the Field Hockey teams worked their hardest to make the season one to remember. The girls gave their all at every practice, game and tournament. They were pushed to the limit and never gave up no matter what happened in the season. Also, according to new PIAA rules, the girls were required to wear goggles during every game.

he Cougar ice hockey teams worked hard this season all the way until the end. Despite their loss, the Varsity team played hard and made it all the way to the Flyers Cup Championships, and the JV team played well too. Reading Olympics READY... SET... READ! The Reading Olympics team is full of the schools strongest readers. The long list of books they have to read doesn't stand in their way! Each year the team travels to a different destination to answer various questions about the 46 books. Bryce Heron I1ve been in Springfield all my life and I can1t believe it1s finally over! I couldn1t have gotten through it without the support of my friends and family. I1ve met some of the most amazing people here that I1ll never forget about and hopefully never lose contact with. I think I lived most of my life in the art department with Mann, Fellona, and Preston, but it couldn1t have been any better. Most people say they miss high school after they1re finished, and I1ll probably be one of them. Tim Hilden Springfield High School was a fun experience for me. I had a ton of ups and downs but they all lead to a good outcome. I1m not ready to move on and go to college and eventually the real world. There1s not much more that I can really say because high school moved so fast for me that it is all a blur.
