THE OPPORTUNITY We are looking for a Technical Services Manager to act as the liaison between our Laboratory and Business Development teams. Your role will be to improve the organization's market position and achieve business growth within the laboratory, third-party auditing, and training and consulting services of our business. To be successful in this role, you should have previous experience developing leads and driving sales. You will use your communication skills to cultivate strong relationships with clients and expand our market position. You will also ensure proper after-sales service. With rapidly growing expectations from regulators, consumers, and retail outlets, companies must be more proactive in their approach to food safety practices.

Safe Food Alliance is here to serve as a resource to the food industry for any and all food safety practices. Our services include food safety training and consulting, analytical services by our laboratories, and third party certification audits by Safe Food Certifications, LLC.Â


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

WHAT WE WANT YOU TO DO: Manages the customer relations for the laboratory, third party auditing, training and consulting activities to drive the organization towards stated goals and objectives. Builds relationships with existing and new customers. Identifies potential customers, and the decision makers within the organization. Sets up meetings between client decision makers and key personnel/Principals. Responsible for effectively communicating and presenting solutions to customers that will increase usage of services. Business development leveraging your network and customer calls within market to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

WHAT WE WANT YOU TO DO: Establishes and maintains relationships with industry boards, growers, handlers, regulatory bodies and other groups to conduct briefings, professional presentations. Conduct GMP and HACCP based supplier audits in a variety of food processing facilities. Ensures timeliness, consistency, and accuracy in all audit reports. Must pass the ASQ HACCP Auditor Exam. Must attend the SQF auditing course and pass the SQF High Risk Auditor Exam. Responsible for working within existing ISO 17065 audit program and assisting with annual audit. Represent company at trade shows and assist with event set up and coordination. Other projects as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS E x c e l l e n t i n t e r p e r s o n1a l a n d communication (written and verbal) skills and attention to detail. Highly organized, energetic, resourceful, and creative problem solver Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to adapt and be flexible within a changing work environment. Strong proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook). Travel required mostly throughout California with occasional travel to other locations in the US. Bilingual (English/ Spanish) preferred.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE A bachelor degree in Science, Biology, Chemistry, Food Science or related field. Minimum of five (5) years’ quality assurance management role within the food industry. Understanding of analytical, chemical and microbiological testing methods preferred. Broad knowledge and experience of various food-beverage processing operations preferred. Knowledge of the dried fruit and nut, dairy, beverage, and/or bakery industries is highly desirable. Food Manufacturing Experience, working knowledge of GMP’s (21 CFR 110), Food Safety practices and HACCP (Codex Alimentarius) is preferred. Strong knowledge in GMP’s, food safety practices and quality management systems, HACCP, and relevant government regulations is required.
