The COST Action FA 1101 “Omics Technologies for Crop Improvement, Traceability, Determination of Authenticity, Adulteration and Origin in Saffron, Saffron-OMICS” has been presented by Dr. S. Ordoudi (WG3 co-leader) in a colloquium on “Medicinal Foods and Health” sponsored by the Food & Health Division of the International Observatory of Oxidative Stress (www.ioosdivision.com). The event was organized in the frame of the 24th International Exhibition of Food, Beverages, Machinery, Equipment & Packaging "DETROP" and the 5th International Wine Fair "OENOS" and took place in the International Exhibition Center of Thessaloniki on February 28, 2015 (http://detrop.helexpo.gr/detrop/en/programme%20en). The lecture was about “Saffron as a functional spice and the importance of the COST Action FA 1101 (Saffrono-OMICS) (co-authors: Kyriakoudi, A., Tsimidou, M.Z.). A short interview about the content of the speech and the importance of the COST FA1101 Action was given to a local TV channel. The colloquium gathered around 100 participants, academics, high-school teachers and other professionals. The brochure for high-school pupils, prepared in the frame of the Action by members of the Laboratory of Food Chemistry and Technology (AUTH, GR) was presented to teachers that expressed interest in disseminating the all-about-saffron knowledge to their pupils.
