PROJECT BRIEF Client information The clients are a couple of 30 year old's who have left their hometown and came to the city to start their new life. They are originally from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh and have migrated to Barod to start their new married life. The client have got this living room space that needs to be designed according to their needs: 1. The need furniture that is easily maintained and easily portable as well. Transformative furniture is preferred for e.g.: the sofa makeshift to bed so that if any of their family visits they can create extra sleeping space for them. 2. They are deeply attached to their roots and culture from back home and would like that to be reflected in the design. They want a traditional yet modern look.


1. They need a dedicated storage space for all their extra luggage like blankets, and extra clothes and other items. 2. The husband is working from home and would like a makeshift space to create a desk area where he can work comfortably, and the wife wants a dining table as they don’t have dedicated table space to eat.

3. As both of them are avid book readers, they also want a different seating space with a cabinet for their collection books. 4. The couple wants a living space that can also be used as a lounge space where they can relax in their free time and also entertain their guests.

5. A multi-use space is in need that can accommodate their needs functionally and aesthetically they want the space to reflect vibrancy of their culture while being in a down to earth nature.


CONCEPT AND THEME oThe theme of the project is ethnic modern is terms of patterns, colors and fabric etc.

oThe space is to be divides into a different zones, to accommodate different uses. A reading corner will be added to the space closer to the window. oEarthy tones with stokes of vibrancy through colors or patterns will be followed as the main design palette for the project. oThe furniture is to be straw based traditional design to add to the theme of the project.

Description: The furniture designed in a modular make shift design which can be transformed into a dining table according to the need of the user. The table can be swinged by a non static screw. A movable bench can be moved according to use as well.
