A Guide: Industrial Flange, Its Types & Materials The Flange is like a ring or collar, it is usually provided with the holes & bolts and screwed or welded over the end of the pipe or tube. One of the most common usages of the flange in plumbing, construction zones & pipelines. They are very useful due to they can be adapted to the specific requirements of the project by flanges manufacturers in India. Furthermore, for instance, if the pipeline needs to change the course of action, then the flange can be removed & changed in order to suit the new pipeline channel. The flanges are valuable in the realm of mechanical engineering & construction since they serve as reinforcement for pipes & making them stronger as compared to they are on their own. There are several types of flanges, we're going to mention a few most common flanges.
1.Anchor Flanges The type of flanges is used in anchor pipes. It is double hub part of the steel that puts into a special holder. It supports pipeline & resists loading. It is welded to the pipe & generally embedded in concrete. The flange actually contains axial thermal expansion, which is axial thrust in pipelines. This kind of flange is used in crossings & points with the changes in pipeline directions.
2.Expander Flanges It is a type of welding neck pipe flange in order to increase pipe size at the connection of flange. It is also known as the costeffective type of flanges in order to use the combination of an individual reducerwelding neck flange. There are some advantages of expander flange such as it is of compact size that saves when it is compared to reducerneck welding neck flange.
3.Split Flanges It is easily installed on preexisting piping. It is manufactured from two interlocking parts, which fit securely together by using nuts or bolts by welding it into pieces. As it is made up of two parts, split flanges are used to strengthen weakened the areas of piping.
4.Threaded Pipe Flange Saini Flange Pvt. Ltd., we are an Indiabased one of specialized stainless steel flanges suppliers & manufacturers of highquality threaded pipe flanges. They are widely used in the lowpressure piping system. There is no welding involved whilst connecting the flanges. The areas of usage of threaded pipe flanges are – power generation, oilrefiners, petrochemical plants, waste water treatment plants, etc. Size: 1/2” to 48” Standards: ANSI B 16.5, 16.47, AWWA & Customized sizes Types of Threaded Flanges: Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel & Special Alloy Threaded Flanges Flange Face Type: FF (Flat face), RF (Raised Face), RTJ (Ring Type Joint)
5.Slipon Flange They usually slip over the pipes. They are typically made with an inside diameter of the pipe. They are preferred for weld neck flanges. They are available with RF – raised face & RTJ – ring type joint.
Size: 1/2” to 48” Standards: ANSI B 16.5, B 16.47 Series, AWWA & Customized Drawings Types: Alloy steel, carbon steel, stainless steel & Special alloy slipon flanges Flange Face Type: FF, RF & RTJ
Flange Materials 1.Stainless Steel – It is one of the most commonly used materials in food service equipment, medical tools & other equipment. It is used in furnace & oven when high resistance is needed. 2.Carbon Steel – It is used for its hardness, impact strength & ductility required. On the other hand, low carbon steel is highly ductile & strong because of it contains a low percentage of carbon. 3.Aluminum – It is lightweight, excellent weight to strength ratio & it provides superior corrosion resistance. Other materials are plastic, nickel alloy & alloy steel.
