POST-GRADUATION CAREER REPORT – CLASS OF 2014 OVERVIEW

Purpose:

PURPOSE

The purpose of this survey is to determine employment and graduate/professional school career information for Saint Francis University graduates. The information will also be used in tracking trends, evaluating programs and services, and comparing data across the various disciplines. PARTICIPANTS

Every Saint Francis University graduate from the Class of 2014 (708) received a followup survey. The Class of 2014 consists of December 2013 graduates and May/Summer 2014 graduates. SURVEY METHODS

Over the course of one year, the Office of Career Services used several methods to obtain data. First, each graduate received a post-graduate survey by email and postal mail in November 2014. Two months later, each non-respondent received the survey again by email and postal mail. The next strategy included contacting advisors and academic departments to discuss and obtain graduation data. In addition to mailings and faculty contact, follow-up phone calls and emails were made to non-respondents and online sources (LinkedIn, Facebook and Google) were utilized. The use of these methods provided for a data collection rate of 88%. INFORMATION GATHERED

Survey recipients were asked to report the following information:  Employment Status (Full or Part-time, or still job searching)  Employer  Job Title  Current Salary  Graduate or Professional School Plans  Methods used to obtain current status  Length of time to obtain current status  Satisfaction with current position All of the information contained in this report is based on the surveys returned to the Office of Career Services or retrieval of data via phone calls, emails and online sources. It should be noted that not all of the questions were answered on each survey (such as salary information), so the results are based on the data received. The formula used to calculate the overall employment/graduate school rate is as follows: # Employed + # Attending Graduate School Total # of Responses -3-

POST-GRADUATION CAREER REPORT – CLASS OF 2014 TRENDS AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Saint Francis University’s overall employment/graduate school rate remains competitive for 2014 at 98% with 97% gainfully employed or attending graduate school within 6 months. In comparing the data from the Class of 2014 to prior years, the results are as follows:  The percentage of students employed increased by 3% from last year for a total of 76% of the Class of 2014 – the highest percentage employed since 2010 (77%).  Twenty-seven percent of the Class of 2014 are attending graduate school which is consistent with the range of 26-28% over the last 5 years.  The response/data collection rate of 88% for this year’s class of 2014 was higher than the rate for 2013. Specific statistical data can be found on the graphs and charts in the pages following the Executive Summary. Overall, this information will be useful to students, alumni, prospective students, faculty, and administration. Of the 96 %, 97% were employed or earning a degree in their field or a related/chosen field. 1% secured positions between 7-8 months after graduation.
