go far. At Saint Francis University, we believe you can achieve anything you set your mind to – if you have the passion, drive and faith to pour your heart into it. We’ll expect nothing less.

The goals of Franciscan higher education.

Like our namesake, St. Francis of Assisi, we have chosen the road of mission, purpose and values.

A humble and generous attitude towards learning

We encourage our students to reach higher – to go far into the world – carrying their own message of genuine concern for peace and justice wherever they go. And then putting their talents toward

A global vision

Certainly some goals may be harder to reach than others, but you’ll always end up farther ahead if your first goal is to just reach higher than you ever have before.

St. Francis of Assisi found peace and harmony in nature. We think you can too. Saint Francis University isn’t just near the great outdoors, it is the great outdoors, offering nature lovers something to venture into and a comfortable home to return to.

Life on our mountain 1,600 undergraduate students from 31 LET’S FACE IT, LIFE IN AND AROUND URBAN AREAS HAS ITS ADVANTAGES. BUT WE’RE NOT SURPRISED BY THE MANY STUDENTS WHO SAY THE MOUNTAINS THAT MAKE UP OUR 600-ACRE CAMPUS ARE THE PERFECT PLACE TO LIVE OUT THEIR COLLEGE YEARS. Our campus sits in the middle of Central Pennsylvania’s Laurel Highlands, which are packed with four seasons of outdoor activities: golf, canoeing, kayaking, whitewater rafting, cross-country and downhill skiing, snow-tubing, spelunking, hiking mountain biking. At an urban college, organizing activites like these might be a major undertaking, but here, all you have to do is walk outside.

Both were stars in the newly formed NBA when Maurice had an accident in 1958 that forced his retirement. Since Stokes had no one to care for him, Twyman stepped up and became his legal guardian – caring for Stokes for 12 years until his death and forever changing the definition of the word “champion.” The NBA recently created the “Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year Award” – given to the player who best demonstrates leadership, selfless play and serves as a positive role model.

The spirit of St. Francis lives at Saint Francis University St. Francis of Assisi founded the Franciscan Order and is our namesake. Although he was born more than 800 years ago, we still have a lot to learn from the simplicity, balance and honesty of the Franciscan ideal. St. Francis pointed the way in the arts, business, health care, and the environment. In fact, he left us an abundance of clues on how to strive, and thrive, in the world today. In an age of gross commercialization and soulless materialism (whose roots go back to Francis’s own time), the world has never needed his inspiration so much as today. If you wish to lead, follow St. Francis.

Reach higher. Go far.

No selfies here. Next time you’re traveling, look around. If you happen to see young people with their hands in the air and backs to the camera; they are striking the now infamous “Reach Higher. Go Far.” pose that mimicks the cover of our viewbook from 10 years ago! They are also doing this completely on their own and not part of any marketing campaign. Students share these photos with us, and now we share them with you. For our students, RHGF is not a tagline, it has become an authentic expression of their experience at Saint Francis University. Visit us and see what our students mean when they say “Reach higher. Go Far.”
