Daughters of Mary Host Lenten Soup Supper to Raise Money for Good Samaritan House

The very faithful and dedicated Daughters of Mary hosted a delicious soup dinner during Lent to raise money for St. Mary’s Good Samaritan House. The young women cooked eight homemade soups which were served to a full house of parishioners. The women were able to choose where their specific donation was used, and they chose to fund about three months of toiletry items for students in Brooklyn that have no access to these necessities, even through local organizations. The teacher of these students was so grateful for the efforts of the Daughters of Mary. They provided her students - who often feel forgotten - with desperately needed supplies and brought joy to her kids.

Thank you, girls, for your efforts and for helping us help those in need!

Society of St. Vincent de Paul

In the Gospel today, Jesus stands in the midst of us and says: “Peace be with you!” During Mass we turn to each other and say, “Peace be with you!” As you put your gift into the St. Vincent de Paul box you say, “Peace be with you!” to those who are poor and hungry.

Our St. Vincent de Paul Conference is able to help our neighbors in need through the generosity of our St. Mary’s parishioners. Each time you donate, either through the collection slots at the doors of the church, or in an envelope marked for St. Vincent de Paul, you are helping our neighbors within St. Mary’s Parish. If you or someone you know is in need of assistance, contact the St. Vincent de Paul Society at 516627-0385, ext. 1125, or email SVDP@stmary.ws. To donate furniture, clothing or household items, please call the store in Garden City Park at 516-746-8250. Thank you for your continued support.
