Exposition and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament

A Prayer before the Holy Eucharist

You are in the Holy Eucharist, Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity.

You are My Lord and My God. You are the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity. You are both God and Man.

You come to me in Holy Communion. You are always in the tabernacle.

You take away our sins by the Sacrifice of the Cross.

You obtain grace for us by the Cross.

You offer Yourself for us in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Pause for a period of silent adoration.

Think of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.

Speak to Our Lord in your own words. Make a promise to Jesus.

All gifts to the Catholic Ministries Appeal make a difference in the lives of those who are served by the Appeal.

Every Gift Counts!

A gift of $50 may help pay the gas for a Meals-On-Wheels van to deliver food for a day.

A gift of $75 from an emergency fund may help pay the electric bill for a family in need.

A gift of $100 may help a new mom in Catholic Charities Regina Maternity Community Case Management Program.

A gift of $250 may help subsidizes a home for an adult who is developmentally disabled.

A gift of $1,000 may help support a Seminarian’s education.

Because of you, every year we are able to serve more than 600,000 people in our Long Island Community. Catholic Charities and parish outreaches can maintain and grow their services to families struggling to meet the demands of higher costs for food, housing and utilities. Faith formation programs for our seminarians and lay leaders thrive so that they can fulfill their calling to lead the faithful of our community. Faith is inspired and kept alive for our youth so that they come to understand that their faith is a gift that should be passed on from generation to generation.

2023World Day for Grandparents and Elderly

In 2021, Pope Francis established the celebration of the World Day for Grandparents and Elderly on the fourth Sunday of July, near the liturgical memorial of Saints Joachim and Anne, the grandparents of Jesus (July 26). The theme for the 2023 celebration selected by the pope is “His mercy is from age to age” (Luke 1:50). Pope Francis is set to celebrate the day with a Mass in St. Peter’s Square. The choice of date was intended to connect the Rome event to the great celebration of the World Youth Day in Lisbon (August 1-6), and in other words to ideally put young and old ‘in dialogue’, as the Pope has always desired.

Here in the United States, the U.S. bishops have approved the transfer of the celebration of World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly to the first weekend after Labor Day in September to coincide with National Grandparents (and the Elderly) Day in the United States as many local communities, schools, and parishes have celebrated for some time.
