Golf team places third in NCISAA state division one Congratulations, to Saint Mary’s varsity golf team on placing third among the top tier teams at the 2021 NCISAA Division 1 state golf tournament played at Bryant Park Golf Club in Greensboro, North Carolina, Monday, Oct. 25. Freshman Madison Myers ’25 led the Saints with a fourthplace finish with a round of 73 (+1). Sophomore Kinsley Smith ’24 finished T7 with a round of 75 (+3). Junior Vivian Shillingsburg ’23, playing in her second consecutive state tournament for Saint Mary's, made the top 10 with a round of 76 (+4). Rounding out the Saints lineup were Bryn Montgomery ’24 (T26) and Elizabeth Powell ’23(T30). The final standings in team competition were North Raleigh Christian Academy winning the state title with a team score of 217 (+1), followed by Durham Academy as runner-up with a score of 223 (+7); Saint Mary’s in third with a score of 224 (+8); Rabun Gap at 244 (+28); Carmel Christian School at 252 (+36); Cary Academy at 262 (+46); and Charlotte Country Day School at 285 (+69). Individual golfers also competed from Charlotte Latin, Wesleyan Christian, Providence Day School, and the Cannon School. Madison Myers ’25 and Kinsley Smith ’24 were named to the All-State Team.
