Majors

SAINT MICHAEL’S COLLEGE | 5

As a liberal arts university, our students study a wide range of subjects and can even focus on more than one. Do you want to study both biology and media studies; business and theater; or computer science and philosophy? You canand you don’t have to choose your major(s) until your second year.

A liberal arts and science education requires that students not only attain a deep understanding of their major field of study, but also a broad knowledge of the world’s critical fields. Skills taught in every class regardless of subject are those demanded by the world’s employers: critical thinking, writing, communication, problem solving, analysis and synthesis of knowledge from across subjects.

Join our sustainability efforts across campus, help manage the Farm at Saint Michael’s, and use our 440-acre Natural Area as a classroom — all to learn the importance of being socially and ecologically responsible.

“My experience at Saint Michael’s has really had a positive impact on my life and career since graduation. The easy access I had to my professors developed into mentorships and new opportunities for learning, and taking classes outside my major expanded my curiosity leading to new experiences and connections. After graduating, facing a tough job market, I was able to pivot into a job outside of my major. Competing on the Alpine Ski Team while taking a full course load allowed me to develop skills that will serve me for life. Importantly, the Saint Mike’s community inspired me to strive to do good, help others, and to give back.” Anna Willasssen research faculty nation recent graduates are employed, in graduate school, or in post-graduate service within six months after graduation.
