VEHICLES are things used to transport people and objects. Vehicles have engines and can also have wheels, wings, or propellers to help them move.
There are many different kinds of VEHICLES. Let’s talk about some!
A CAR is a vehicle that people ride in. We ride in the car to go to school, to buy groceries, and to visit friends and family. Did you ride in your car today?
A TRUCK is a vehicle that people use to transport things. You can transport furniture, animals, or trash in a truck. What day does the garbage truck come to your house to pick up trash?
A BUS is a long vehicle that transports lots of people. Some kids ride a yellow school bus to school. The bus driver sits at the front and steers the bus.
A TRAIN is a very fast vehicle that runs on a track. A train has boxcars that link together to make a long chain. You have to buy a ticket to ride the train. A conductor collects your ticket and tells you where to sit when you ride the train. Have you ever been on a train?
An AIRPLANE is a vehicle that flies! Airplanes have a long wing on each side. Airplanes can fly over land and water. Airplanes carry lots of people. What animal flies like an airplane?
A HELICOPTER is also a vehicle that flies, but instead of wings, it uses propellers to fly. The propellers go round and round on top of the helicopter. A helicopter is much smaller than an airplane and can only carry a few people. Have you ever seen a helicopter in the sky?
BOATS are vehicles that travel in the water. A boat also has a propeller, but the propeller moves round and round under water to help the boat move. The person who drives the boat is called the captain.
