Palemahan House, Bali Site Area - 480 Sq.m Ground Coverage - 136 Sq.m Total Built Area - 174 Sq.m Keeping the spirit of Bali’s Religious sentiments paraellel to the Design, while being progressive as well as inclusive to the naturality of the space, The Architecture has been so conceived. Taking up the Philosophy of ‘Parikrama’ and translating it through the nature of clockwise twist in form of the facade highlights the importance of the living area while providing a sense of security.

Social Distancing Housing

(Featured in Non-Architecture Magazine)

Site Area - 625 Sq.m Ground Coverage - 400 Sq.m Total Built Area - 1200 Sq.m The housing block has been incepted with regards to the norm of Social Distancing lifestyle born out of the current Pandemic, taking into consideration both physical and mental wellbeing of the occupants and providing them with the comforts of a flexible interior space (as per the user’s occupation), smart furnitures and an intimate community within the housing wherein the social interactions belong to the internal courtyard, connected with a dedicated naturally lit and well ventilated foyer space on the exterior of each unit, providing visual and auditory contact as well as a versatile space for personal activities. Each unit is reached to by its own self-sanitizing capsule lift, allowing at once a single passenger to circulate vertically through the complex. The provided open spaces help in communicating with beings and nature around, as life in quarantine can trigger loneliness and depression. Each floor consists of two units, both capable of holding upto 6 occupants and support small businesses like the Bakery on the ground floor, the items from which are delivered through drone just as household items are received by the residents, ensuring minimum contact and necessity to leave the house. Stepped terraces, unique to each unit are provided on top along with the kitchen garden.

Group Housing, Jasola. Site Area - 76,000 Sq.m Ground Coverage - 21 % FAR Achieved - 2.1 No. of DUs - 1256 Total Density 5652 Jasola is a residential locality with many housings provided by DDA. It is an upcoming sector for official and residential buildings. The site offers flat and spacious land for development, however the lack of views in the context is a challenge to be met. The site is in close proximity to the NH2 and is well accessible through all modes. The design was approached keeping factors like community, safety and human nature in mind. This was done by identifying public, private and intermediate spaces and establishing transitions across them. The Theory of Defensible spaces by Oscar Newman became the guiding principle of the Design, providing people a sense of territorialty by giving them the flexibility to use the spaces in and around the built as their own. The residential towers are so designed that their clusters form enclosures that allow natural light, establish visual surveillance, robust use of the spaces on ground and internalised views among other features. The landscaping has been done for a healthy pedestrian friendly environment, encouraging walking and cycling along with shaded sitting spaces and tree lined promenades.

Thesis - Retrofitting Transit Integrated Development with Basant Lok Market Site Area - 17,106 Sq.m Ground Coverage - 36.75 % Total Built Area - 57,552 Sq.m FAR Acheived - 3.36 Parking - 2 ECS per 100 Sq.m Basant Lok Market complex used to be a significant part of South Delhi which had recently lost its charm due to coming of malls and the PVR complex becoming outdated. The recent developments near this zone, like the opening of Vasant Vihar Metro Station which is a part of the magenta line, The redevelopment of Bara Lao ka Gumbad Park carried out by INTACH, PVR Cinema being renovated along with the basant lok complex have started to bring a little more footfall to this zone again, yet the true potential of the land was untapped. The project aimed to bring an extension to the market by redeveloping an adjacent plot owned by the DDA as a site level Transit Oriented Development, thereby adding value to the place by providing mix of architectural uses like Residential, Offices, Retails and Institutional which shall not only bring more footfall to this place by catering to a large audience of working-class people but also make it more metro accessible and pedestrian friendly by boosting the safety standars of the place with the help of active edges and round the clock surveillance. The project can be taken as a pilot study for the upcoming transit oriented developments in Delhi/NCR.
