ABSTRACT The office building is one of the great icons of the twentieth century. Office towers dominate the skylines of cities in every continent. As the most visible index of economic activity, of social, technological, and financial progress, they have come to symbolize much of what this century has been about. The office building is the most tangible reflection of a profound change in employment patterns that has occurred over the last one hundred years. An office building must have flexible and technologically-advanced working environments that are safe, healthy, comfortable, durable, aesthetically-pleasing, and accessible. It must be able to accommodate the specific space and equipment needs of the tenant. Special attention should be made to the selection of interior finishes and art installations, particularly in entry spaces, conference rooms and other areas with public access. Office buildings have specific needs, which distinguish them from others typologies, such as residential buildings. Open plan floors, which allow occupation flexibility, demand heavier floor loadings and specific free span between structural columns. MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing) Systems are more sophisticated, since they deal with large populations and air conditioning central systems, which imply special care for energy infrastructure and efficiency.

ABOUT SITE APPROACH TO THE SITE The site is accessible by 3 roads- Katora Taal Rd, having a width of 20 m and the other 2 roads which are 12 m wide each. INDIA

LANDMARKS The site has 2 major landmarks- Gajra Raja Medical College and Katora Taal (Veer Savarkar Lake).

TRAFFIC AND NOISE Since the site is surrounded by 3 roads, the level of traffic is high.

VEGETATION

The site has few trees near the edges which will help in creating a barrier for the incoming sound and traffic. GWALIOR

CLIMATE ANALYSIS SOLAR ANALYSIS The maximum radiations are falling on the east and south facade and the north facade will fall under shadow for most of the year.

The surrounding buildings are not blocking the sun from reaching the site. Therefore, climate responsive design strategies must be incorporated.

WIND ANALYSIS The wind blows maximum from North direction for most of the year whereas the south direction has the least wind flow.

STRENGTH Good accessibility Proximity to other services and amenities like hospital, gas station etc. Plain terrain

WEAKNESS

SWOT

High traffic and noise zones Lack of significant structures to block the direct sunlight

CONCEPT

FORM EVOLUTION

A flexible office building, which demarcates interior and exterior spaces as well as merges them together such that the spaces flow into each other. To design a sustainable and climate responsive office building through open spaces and kinetic and parametric facades to regulate the building's tempaerature.

Balconies were given to join the 2 wings and provide a space to enjoy the views.

ZONING SERVICE CORE

The building was divided into 2 sepaerate wings to facilitate wind flow and provide a plaza and central gathering space.
