Birthmark Removal Treatment What are birthmark? Birthmarks are marks on the skin that are present at birth or develop soon after. Birthmarks aregenerally categorized as: Port-wine stain birthmarks are vascular birthmarks caused by a high concentration of blood vessels in a particular area. These birthmarks, when found on the forehead, eyelids or side of the face, are mostly associated with an increased risk of glaucoma and seizures.
What is the actual procedure? ď Ź
At Karishma Laser & Cosmetic Clinic the doctor will first cleanse the area to be treated. A cold press or a local anesthetic may be used to numb the area. A laser beam is targeted to the birthmark and the light penetrates the surface of the skin to lighten it gradually. Port-wine stain birthmarks become less noticeable and the skin tone is more or less evened out. In most coffeeand-cream birthmarks, laser treatment can eliminate the mark altogether
