Introduction to Mental Health Neuroscience (3 CEUs) Research on neuroscience has expanded over the past few decades. The profession has been slow to engage in the acquisition of knowledge on neuroscience. Clinical social workers have an ethical responsibility to stay current with evidence-based research. This includes valuing competence and that of being a lifelong learner. The ability to provide client systems with up-to-date information and psychoeducation is essential and is considered ethical practice. This workshop will provide attendees with up to date information on basic brain anatomy, function, and link this knowledge to various mental health conditions.

Multisystemic Equity in Social Work Practice: Inquiry and Change (3 CEUs) Advancing equity and social justice is one of the primary tenets of the social work profession, thus the integration of social equity and social action into all areas of social work practice is essential. Social workers are expected to enact individual, interpersonal, institutional, and structural social change with the purpose of eradicating multisystemic privilege and oppression. Due to our socialization experiences and limitations in our professional training, we often struggle with this important task. This interactive workshop will offer participants opportunities to use reflection to assess and modify their practice.
