Campus Life and Recreation offers a wide variety of programs and events to engage the campus community. The Campus Life and Recreation team oversees and operates the Gassett Fitness Center, Wellness U multi-dimensional and holistic wellness programming, ticket sale offerings for local and regional experiences, and is one of the largest employers of students on campus. It is our Mission to engage students through recreational and co-curricular experiences that enhance student success, connection, and sense of belonging.

Center, which opened in November 2013, is a fully-equipped fitness center providing top-tier cardio, strength, and functional training equipment, locker rooms, recreational courts, and a studio for group exercise classes and other activities.

Membership
Membership is covered by student fees. In order to participate, you will need to complete the online Gassett Fitness Center Registration Form/Facility Access Waiver on the Fusion Web Portal (gassettfitnesscenter.salemstate.edu/). You must present your ClipperCard at each visit to the fitness center.

Each semester, Campus Life and Recreation offers cocurricular evening and weekend programming, employment opportunities, esports, an equipment borrowing program, facility reservations for student groups, clubs and organizations, fitness programs, grab & go opportunities, group exercise classes, indoor batting cage use, informal recreation, intramural sports, outdoor adventure trips, ship to you offerings, special events and incentive programs, take & make events, ticket sales for local and regional experiences, virtual and remote offerings, and wellness/Wellness U programs. Intramural and Esports
Campus Life and Recreation offers intramural and Esports opportunities for interested students. The intramural program provides one day tournaments and events. In spring 2021, we launched esports using the Mission Control platform. This competitive play of video games encompassing many titles and styles of play has been an exciting addition to our campus. To get started, download the FREE Mission Control app, search for, and join, our organization(Salem State University – Campus Life and Recreation), and edit your profile so you don’t miss out on any of the excitement!
Group Exercise Program
Group Exercise classes kick-off on Tuesday, September 7 with a variety of weekly offerings. The full schedule and class descriptions are available on our website.
