Inclusive Design Hub School of Planning and Architecture, Aurangabad Undergraduate thesis

Inclusive Design is the design of an environment so that it can be accessed and used by as many people as possible, regardless of age, gender and disability. An environment that is designed inclusively is not just relevant to buildings, it also applies to surrounding open spaces, wherever people go about everyday activities. Inclusive design keeps the diversity and uniqueness of each individual in mind. To do this, built environment professionals should involve potential users at all stages of

the design process, from the design brief and detailed design through to construction and completion. Where possible, it is important to involve disabled people in the design process. This campus can be defined as a kind of institution where students and the public interact with each other gaining different knowledge and creating awareness among the public, at the same time creating a private space for the academic purposes.

The main objective of this project was to design a master plan of a film, drama, music, arts and craft institution which includes the residential units for faculties and students. The vision of the design is to create a self-sustained campus which caters to the development of the locality. It also encourages the interaction between people with different ideologies and with the public ultimately leading to more creativity.

With respect to context.

Vegetation

With respect to landform The site has steeply sloped areas on which construction would harm the natural drainage conditions. This problem can be solved by raising the building on stilts while allowing the water to flow through the sloped regions.

Movement pattern

Clusttering Commercial blocks are arranged such that an enclosed space is formed within for interaction. The blocks with views nearby are arranged such that they open into an expansive view. The residential blocks shall be arrange such that they form an open space within for recreational activities.

Live Projects

Residential and Commercial projects Freelance

I was fortunate enough to invest some time and effort on a couple of inspiring projects, both residential and commercial. Committing to live projects made me realize how different can be the practicality with reference to the design. The experience made me see architecture in a different perspective. From encountering, the design issues to solving the technicalities for live projects were certainly a kick start to my architectural career. Interacting with clients, consultants and local artisans made my time spent very informative and efficient.
