RONALD MCDONALD CARE MOBILE® Take a look at the World’s first “green” Ronald McDonald Care Mobile!
hese days, for most of us, life seems to be moving at lightning speed. We aim to be proficient, trying our best to get so many things done, while sometimes feeling pressed by the hard economic times. We diligently strive to fulfill our families’ schedules while still meeting our own demands—work, budgets, car payments, the mortgage, kid’s practices and lessons, relationships. Together, it can all take a toll. Often we’ve found ourselves frustrated when technology has failed us, having to wait in line or being stuck in traffic threatens to undo us. Our spirits sigh, but we press on, thinking, “How much “that’s just life”.
My name is Treasure Davis and my husband Aaron and I want to tell you about a very special and meaningful project at the Ronald McDonald House, the creation of a Healing Garden. We are a former House family as our daughter Serenity Aryn was born eight weeks early in 2003. Knowing first hand and believing in the Ronald McDonald House Charities mission, I signed on as a Board member, having served for the last four years. The Healing Garden
The Healing Garden is a much desired, much anticipated project that will add depth and beauty to the Ronald McDonald House for our families to enjoy for years to come. Our desire has always been to come alongside families in crisis in any way we can. By cultivating a place that’s green, a place alive with vivid flowers and plants of many varieties and colors, our hope is that the Garden will not only be pleasing to the eye, but also comforting to the soul. We would be most appreciative if you could lend your financial support to this important, permanent addition to the Ronald McDonald House. If you are able to help, an envelope is enclosed for your gift. Truly, any amount will make a difference. We appreciate your consideration to partner with us on this project. These fabulous companies and individuals have helped make the dream of the Healing Garden a beautiful reality. our thanks to all of you for your support! • Adam Conard

T
he Ronald McDonald Family Room may be new to some of you; it’s the first of its kind in the state of Colorado, with more than 100 around the world. Having opened its doors in January, 2008, the Family Room has already celebrated its first year anniversary. Located inside Memorial’s Hospital for Children, the Family Room provides a comfortable, home-like environment where families find respite while remaining close to their little ones. They rest, catch a quick bite, take a shower, do laundry and connect to the internet using the Family Room’s
laptop computers. The Family Room also offers a play room stocked with toys, games and puzzles, and private lockers where families can store their personal items. In addition, there’s a library of reference books available. Open 12 hours a day, 365 days a year, the Family Room is staffed 100% by volunteers. In just over one year, the Family Room has had over 16,000 visitors. Tina Dewar, Family Room Manager, said, “Most of the local families say they would be lost without the Ronald McDonald Family Room. Often, parents never leave the hospital while their children are hospitalized. They take their showers, eat

and do their laundry using the Family Room’s facilities.” For a tour of the Family Room and/or, if you’re interested in volunteering, contact Tina Dewar at 719.365.6360.

Our Mission:
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern Colorado (RMHC) lifts children and families in need to a better tomorrow.
In support of our mission, RMHC provides: The Ronald McDonald House – a “home-away-from-home” for families of seriously ill children receiving medical treatment nearby. The Ronald McDonald Family Room – a retreat inside Memorial Hospital for Children where families receive respite and regain their energy while remaining near their hospitalized children. The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile – a mobile medical and dental clinic serving children and families in the Pikes Peak Region, in partnership with Peak Vista Community Health Centers. Grants serving children and families throughout Southern Colorado. Scholarships to underprivileged students.
