1989. Nasce la Catellani & Smith. Enzo Catellani inizia la sua avventura creando e producendo lampade. In questo periodo il suo lavoro è caratterizzato dall’uso del flex. La collezione “Turciù” e “Albero della Luce” contenuti nel primo catalogo “Oggetti senza tempo”, valorizzano in primo luogo la possibilità d’interazione con l’oggetto-soggetto lampada. 1995. Con la collezione “Luci d’Oro” a prendere il sopravvento è una riflessione sul colore della luce: la luce dorata del sole, del fuoco; luci calde dove il concetto di rifrazione inizia ad acquistare spessore. 1997. La collezione “Stchu-Moon” separa la fonte luminosa dall’oggetto illuminante, che acquista così una valenza estetica indipendente. La rifrazione della luce qui si confronta con superfici irregolari; oggetti realizzati artigianalmente dunque irripetibilmente unici. 2000. Con “Lucenera” il processo si inverte: la lampada sacrifica il suo valore “scultoreo” per dare spazio al concetto di “luce pura”. Una lampada tecnica dove la fonte illuminante scompare a favore del soggetto illuminato. 2002. “Out Collection” raccoglie prototipi e concetti “fuori collezione” di questi ultimi anni. Fil de Fer, Luna nel Pozzo, Luce che Dipinge, realizzati in serie limitata, adesso entrano in produzione. 2004. E’ la svolta del colore con “PostKrisi”, lampade in vetroresina dove la luce interagisce contemporaneamente con il colore e con la forma in un gioco di trasparenze e contrasti. 2007. “Atman”, un cammino di sensazioni, nato durante un viaggio in India, attraverso la profondità di una cultura fatta di silenzio e di caos, di spiritualità e di miseria. Enzo Catellani ha attraversato con queste sensazioni un periodo buio e grave della sua vita con sempre nella mente e negli occhi questa luce che veniva dal niente e che non lo ha mai abbandonato. Quando si è svegliato ha cercato di rendere palpabile e reale quello che aveva vissuto. Atman è diventata luce. Il suo passato e quello che ha costruito fanno parte di lui, ma Enzo Catellani nasce oggi, con il desiderio di intraprendere un cammino a ritroso per riconciliarsi con l'istinto iniziale di fare, per il piacere di creare. 2008. “1/5 Eco-logic Light”, la magia della luce LED. Il risultato è magico, magnifico, rilassante. Questa nuova invenzione consente di poter creare un oggetto di valenza poetico-estetica, che possa però dare una luce pari alle vecchie lampadine, da 25W sino a 100W, consumando “1/5”, potendo così sfruttare il concetto sempre presente nei lavori della C&S di luce data dalla rifrazione, in aggiunta al fatto che non richiede manutenzione e sostituzione, e una durata pressoché illimitata se prodotto a regola d’arte. 1989. Catellani & Smith was born. The adventure of Enzo Catellani creating and producing lighting starts. During this period, his work is characterised by the use of flex tubing. The “Turciù” and “Albero della Luce” collections in his first catalogue “Oggetti senza tempo”, primarily highlight the possibility of interaction with the lamp as the object-subject. 1995. With the collection “Luci d’Oro”, the main theme is a reflection about the colour of light: the golden light of the sun and the fire; warm lights where the concept of refraction starts to take shape. 1997. The collection “Stchu-Moon” separates the light source from the illuminating object, winning an independent aesthetic value. Here the refraction of the light meets irregular surfaces: objects crafted by hand and therefore unique and unrepeatable. 2000. The turn of “Lucenera”. The process is inverted: the lamp sacrifices its “sculptural” value to leave space for the concept of “pure light”. A technical lamp in which the light source disappears making way for the illuminated subject. 2002. “Out Collection” groups together prototypes and concepts “out of the collections” from the last few years. With these sensations, Catellani spent a dark and grave period of his life with his mind and eyes full of this light that came from nothing and that has never abandoned him. When he awoke, he tried to make what he had lived something palpable and real. Atman has become light. His past and what he has built are part of him, but Enzo Catellani was born today, with the intention of travelling backwards to rediscover the initial instinct of doing, for the pleasure of creating. 2008. “1/5 Eco-logic Light”, the magic of LED light. The result is magical, magnificent, relaxing. This new invention enables to create a item with a poetic-aesthetic value, which can however give off the same light as the old light bulbs, from 25W up to 100W, consuming “1/5” of the energy, and thus enabling to make use of the concept of light from refraction, ever present in C&S recent works, added to the fact that LEDs do not require maintenance and replacement and last almost indefinitely if produced to high professional standards. 1989. Naissance de la société Catellani & Smith. L’ aventure de Enzo Catellani avec la création et la production de lampes commence à cette date. Au cours de cette période son travail se caractérise par l’utilisation du Flex. Les collections “Turciù” et “Albero della Luce” contenues dans le premier catalogue “Oggetti senza tempo”, mettent en valeur tout d’abord la possibilité d’interagir avec l’objet-sujet qu’est la lampe. 1995. Avec la collection “Luci d’Oro” c’est une réflexion sur la couleur de la lumière qui prend le dessus: la lumière dorée du soleil, du feu; des lumières chaudes où le concept de réfraction commence à prendre de l’importance. 1997. La collection “Stchu-Moon” sépare la source lumineuse de l’objet éclairant, qui acquiert ainsi une valeur esthétique indépendante. Ici la réfraction de la lumière se confronte à des surfaces irrégulières; des objets réalisés artisanalement et donc non répétables, uniques. 2000. C’est le tour de “Lucenera”. Le processus s’inverse: la lampe sacrifie sa valeur “sculpturale” pour laisser place au concept de “lumière pure”. Une lampe technique où la source éclairante disparaît en faveur du sujet éclairé. 2002. “Out Collection” rassemble les prototypes et les concepts “hors collection” des dernières années. 1989. Entsteht Catellani & Smith. So beginnt das Abenteuer von Enzo Catellani mit dem Schaffen und der Herstellung von Leuchten. In dieser Zeit ist seine Arbeit vom Gebrauch der „Flexarme“ gekennzeichnet. Die Kollektionen „Turciù“ und „Albero della Luce“ im ersten Katalog „Oggetti senza tempo“ heben das Zusammenspiel von Licht und Objekt hervor. 1995. Mit der Kollektion „Luci d’Oro“ gewinnen Überlegungen über die Farbe des Lichts Überhand: das goldene Licht der Sonne, des Feuers; ein warmes Licht, wo der Begriff der Lichtbrechung beginnt, neue Substanz anzunehmen. 1997. Die Kollektion „Stchu-Moon“ trennt die Lichtquelle vom Beleuchtungskörper, der damit selber einen unabhängigen ästhetischen Wert gewinnt. Die Lichtbrechung sieht sich hier mit unregelmäßigen Oberflächen konfrontiert. Es handelt sich um handwerklich erzeugte und damit unwiederholbare, einzigartige Gegenstände. 2000. Jetzt ist „Lucenera“ an der Reihe. Die Rollen werden vertauscht: die Leuchte opfert ihren „plastischen“ Wert, um der Idee des „reinen Lichtes“ Raum zu schaffen. Eine technische Leuchte, wo die Lichtquelle zu Gunsten des beleuchteten Gegenstandes verschwindet. 2002. „Out Collection“ vereint alle „außerhalb der Kollektion“ geschaffenen Prototypen und Ideen der letzten Jahre. Fil de Fer, Luna nel Pozzo, Luce che Dipinge, die in begrenzter Serie hergestellt wurden, fließen nun in die Produktion ein. 2004. 1989. Nace Catellani & Smith. Inicia la aventura de Enzo Catellani creando y produciendo lámparas. En este periodo su trabajo está caracterizado por el uso del flex. La colección “Turciù” y “Albero della Luce” contenidos en el primer catálogo “Oggetti senza tempo”, valorizan en primer lugar la posibilidad de interacción con el objeto-sujeto lámpara. 1995. Con la colección “Luci d’Oro”, se ha hecho una reflexión sobre el color de la luz: la luz dorada del sol, del fuego; luces cálidas donde el concepto de refracción comienza a adquirir espesor. 1997. La colección “Stchu-Moon” separa la fuente luminosa del objeto iluminante, que adquiere así una valencia estética independiente. 1989. Met het ontstaan van Catellani & Smith is mijn avontuur van lampen ontwerpen en maken begonnen. In deze periode wordt mijn werk gekenmerkt door het gebruik van flex. De collecties “Turciù” en “Albero della Luce”, die in de eerste catalogus “Oggetti senza tempo” staan, laten in de eerste plaats de wisselwerking zien tussen de lamp als object en de lamp als subject. 1995. Bij de collectie “Luci d’Oro” wordt de nadruk gelegd op de kleur van het licht: het gouden licht van de zon, van vuur; warm licht waarbij het concept refractie belangrijk begint te worden. 1997. Bij de collectie “Stchu-Moon” wordt de lichtbron van het lichtgevende object gescheiden,waardoor het een onafhankelijke esthetische waarde krijgt: de refractie van het licht op onregelmatige oppervlakten, objecten die op handmatige wijze worden vervaardigd en dus uniek zijn. 2000. Met “Lucenera” wordt het proces omgedraaid: de “beeldende” waarde van de lamp verdwijnt om ruimte te geven aan het concept van “puur licht”. Een technische lamp waarvan de lichtgevende bron verdwijnt ten gunste van het verlichte subject. 2002. “Out Collection” is een verzameling prototypen en concepten van de “out collection” van de laatste jaren. Fil de Fer, Luna nel Pozzo, Luce che Dipinge, ontwerpen die in een beperkte serie zijn uitgevoerd worden nu opnieuw geproduceerd. 2004. Met “PostKrisi” vindt een ommekeer plaats wat licht betreft: lampen die in fiberglas zijn uitgevoerd en waar licht en kleur elkaar gelijktijdig beïnvloeden in een spel van doorschijnendheid en contrasten. 2007. “Atman”. Tijdens een reis door India beleeft hij een reeks gewaarwordingen, door de diepgaande cultuur die uit stilte en chaos bestaat, uit spiritualiteit en armoede. Enzo Catellani maakte door deze gewaarwoordingen een donkere en zware periode in zijn leven door, met de onafgebroken aanwezigheid van het licht in zijn hoofd en voor zijn ogen dat uit niets ontstond en hem nooit heeft verlaten. Toen hij ontwaakte heeft hij geprobeerd dat wat hij beleefde tastbaar en werkelijk te maken. Atman is licht geworden. 1989. Företaget Catellani & Smith föds - mitt äventyr att skapa och tillverka lampor inleds. Under denna period kännetecknas mitt arbete av användningen av ett flexibelt metal material, s.k. flex tuber. I kollektionen "Turciù" och "Albero della Luce", i den första katalogen “Oggetti senza tempo” understryks växelverkan mellan föremålet och lampan som ett objekt-subjekt. 1995. Med kollektionen “Luci d’Oro” lägges tonvikten på en reflektion över ljusets färg: solens och eldens gyllene ljus. – ett varmt ljus där ljusbrytnings konceptet börjar få form. 1997. Kollektionen “Stchu-Moon” särskiljer ljuskällan från det belysta föremålet, som därmed får ett oberoende estetiskt värde där ljusbrytningen möter oregelbundna ytor – var och en unik p.g.a. den långt drivna hantverksmässighet som känneteckar Catellani & Smiths produkter. 2000. Med “Lucenera” – svenska - “svart ljus” omvänds processen såtillvida att lampan offrar sitt "skulpturella" värde för att ge plats åt konceptet “rent ljus”. Lucenera är en “teknisk lampa” där ljuskällan försvinner och lämnar plats åt det belysta föremålet. 2002. “Out Collection” samlar prototyper och koncept vilka av olika anledningar hamnat utanför befintliga kollektioner under de gångna åren – därav namnet Out Collection – svenska "utanför kollektionerna" . Sålunda startar nu en produktion av den limiterade kollektionen Fil de Fer, Luna nel Pozzo och Luce che Dipinge. 2004. Vändpunkten för färgen med kollektionen “PostKrisi” - lampor av glasfiber där ljuset växelverkar samtidigt med färgen och formen, i ett genomskinligt och kontrastfullt ljusspel. 2007. “Atman”, En resa av upplevelser sprunget ur en resa till Indien - genom djupet av en kultur bestående av tystnad, kaos, spiritualitet och misär. Enzo Catellani har med dessa upplevelser genomlevt en tungsint period i hans liv – dock hela tiden med fokus på denna spritualitet d.v.s. detta eviga ljus som kom som från ingenstans och som aldrig har övergivit hans sinne. Когда он проснулся, то постарался сделать ощутимым и реальным то, что он пережил. Так Атман стал светом. Его прошлое и всё созданное им являются частью его, но Энцо Кателлани рождается сегодня, с желанием возобновления пути назад, для примирения с изначальным инстинктом делать, для удовольствия создания. 2008. “1/5 Eco-logic Light”, Магия СВЕТОДИОДНОГО света. Результат – чарующий, удивительный, расслабляющий. According to Enzo Catellani the fifth source of light created by man is LED technology, following the incandescent bulb, the fluorescent lighting, the halogen and iodides. He interpreted this light source with essentiality and for it he has specifically created and patented new ways of use. This gave him the chance to express himself designing new shapes and concepts without limits. La cinquième source de lumière inventée par l’homme selon Enzo Catellani est la technologie LED, après les ampoules à incandescence, la fluorescence, l’halogène et les iodures. Il s’agit d’une source de lumière qu’il a traduit avec son caractère essentiel et pour laquelle il a inventé et breveté de nouvelles applications qui lui ont donné la possibilité d'exprimer de nouveaux concepts et formes sans limites. Il aime la définir lumière écologique parce qu'elle peut réduire à 1/5ème l’émission de CO², en obtenant une économie d’énergie de 4/5ème.
