We asked our members what they thought about the clubhouse standards. SALO – more than a city

The city of Salo was established in the present form in the beginning of 2009 as the ten municipalities in the region Halikko, Kiikala, Kisko, Kuusjoki, Muurla, Perniö, Pertteli, Salo, Suomusjärvi and Särkisalo, made an ambitious decision to consolidate into one city. When you arrive in Salo, you walk on ground that has been inhabited ever since the Stone Age. Together with the central location, the waterways and favorable natural conditions have contributed to the prosperity of the region for centuries. The area has a long tradition in trading with wealthy estates and their steel plants laying the foundation for industrial activities. Salo region has always been inhabited by open-minded and enterprising people with ability to see and to do things in a new way. Nowadays the city is mainly known for its high level technology expertise and diverse range or services, Salo is an attractive shopping destination for those outside the region as well. In addition agriculture remains an essential part of Salo, both in terms of know-how and the landscape. The entrepreneurial spirit of the people is also reflected in Salo´s diverse cultural life and varied physical activities. Combined with an open-minded approach to everything new. The rich history of the region provides a solid foundation for this. However, Salo is first and foremost a city for people – a good place to live in. In Salo, nature is always near providing unique opportunities for combining an urban lifestyle with verdant surroundings or for living in a genuine countryside setting. The surrounding diverse nature with rivers, lakes and sea bays offers people living in or visiting Salo an abundance of opportunities for leading an enjoyable life.

Finnish Fountain House Clubhouse Coalition is consisted of 20 clubhouses, which are committed to follow 36 standards updated by ICCD

Our main values are:

• Voluntariness, equility and free membership • Everyone 18-65 years old man or a woman, who has been in a psychiatric care sometimes might join us. Finnish clubhouses have a total of 3,000 rehabilitant members. All 19 clubhouses participate in Finnish Clubhouse Coalition, founded for supporting the activities of Finnish clubhouses. The Coalition's mission is to increase awareness of the empowering clubhouse rehabilitation model and to improve the social position of those recovering from a mental illness. To achieve this, the Coalition: • Interacts with clubhouses operating in Finland and abroad • Provides consulting support for quality assurance in new clubhouses

• Distributes information on clubhouse rehabilitation and its effectiveness to society's decisionmakers

• Collaborates with other parties performing mental health work • Conducts research and development pertaining to the Fountain House clubhouse model

• Works in cooperation with clubhouse networks in other countries and with the ICCD
