Gratitude is the Attitude Laura Brunetti’s one weekend exhibit of contemporary Cuban artist Josignacio opens tonight @ Pat Sciavino’s art629 Gallery [629 Cookman] from 6-9pm, with cocktails + treats by Branches Catering + Market in the Middle. Partnered with AP Mayor Ed Johnson + Prevention First, donations accepted at the show will benefit the Project Vision community art program, who will create art for the new Asbury Transportation Center, unveiling in 2010. Exhibit runs thru Sunday 11/8 Arcade Holiday Banner Design Contest Local artists open call for seasonal designs to decorate the AP Boardwalk Arcade for the holidays. “I’ll tweet about this later” Parlor Gallery [Cookman] is host tonight to AsburyPop, a new event that brings together local creative types connected thru Twitter. Enjoy the food + refreshments by Langosta Lounge while the cast of local tweeters share their talent in 5 minute presentations on social media. 5:30 - 7:30pm. Afterwards, the NJ Film Alliance presents the 140 Second Film Festival across the street @ The ShowRoom at 8:30 pm. FALL in love with Asbury Art It’s First Saturday’s Fall Festival night throughout Downtown Asbury Park. Inside The Shoppes at the Arcade, the Shore Women’s Abstract Gallery [SWAG], a new collective women’s artspace, hosts an opening reception and group show from 5 -9pm. At Hot Mess Studio [651 Cookman], photographers Jessica Veguez + Pete Maresco [above] are “A Black + White Affair”, an ArtsCAP fundraising evening of art, fine cocktails + hors d’oeuvres, and the music of DJ Slim Polski from 7-11pm Over @ The Lanes, parlor Gallery’s Sarah Potter brings us “Ladies First”, an art showcase of underground + rising int’l female visual artists, paired with the vaudeville stylings of NYC’s Sugar Shack Burlesque. 8pm $10
Stolen Hearts While the adults are enjoying Jersey Shore Restaurant Week’s “Brunch at the Beach” event @ Langosta Lounge [12 - 3pm], the kids [the girls especially] are prolly more concerned with gettin’ over to the Stone Pony doors @ 4pm for the all-ages show, headlined by local teen heartthrob group The Stolen. Playing a range of classic 80’s rock favorites to new original material, the boys are making a name for themselves around here and are hoping to get on to Bamboozle next year. Part of today’s Stone Pony Showcase, with Ricky Syers, Play With Fire, Battery Operated, and Taljay Puryear. Tickets $10. All ages admitted, 21+ to drink. The Stone Pony
