ellyse’s STARTING LINEUP

LIZ WILSON | MATRON-OF-HONOR MARANA, AZ

As her oldest sibling, and only sister, Liz was always a role model for Ellyse growing up. Even with a 7 year age gap, Liz was always tolerant of Ellyse wanting to tag along – but she repaid her with hours of Ellyse having to watch band concerts and sporting events from the stands. Liz and Ellyse have supported each other through tough times, and have stood together during the most joyous moments of each other’s lives – making it only fitting that she stand by her today as she marries Matt.

MICHELLE MCDONOUGH | MAID-OF-HONOR DAVENPORT, IA

Michelle and Ellyse have had many adventures since the day they met Sophmore year at Loras College. From their first group project to senior finals, they supported each other’s goal of getting that dipolma (and making sure everyone knew the answer to DUWHAT?!). Through many life changes, challeges, and celebrations Michelle has always been Ellyse’s first call. She can’t wait to see where life brings them, but knows they will always have eachother’s back.

Kelsey and Ellyse have over 20 years of friendship under their belt. Even though they went to the same grade school and played together in traveling volleyball, their friendship blossomed at BCHS. From Marching Band and Chorus, to sleep-overs and dances you never saw Ellyse without Kelsey (and a few cosmic brownies). Having Kelsey standing by her side means the world to Ellyse and she couldn’t image today without her there!

Kate is Matt’s cousin-in-law, but through his courtship with Ellyse the two women have become close. Kate’s spirit and kindness made Ellyse feel immediately welcomed to the family. Matt and Ellyse look forward to watching their children growup together, and all the memories that will be made. Ellyse is honored to have Kate by her side today, and cannot wait to join her as a Mrs. Ungs.

MEGAN MASTERS | BRIDESMAID DODGEVILLE, WI

Megan and Ellyse met during their time as DuHawks, and their venture through the Loras College Marketing Program. From their first SWOT analysis to celebrating with professors at the end of the year, they shared in the many highs and lows of group competitions and projects. As they both grow into motherhood, and hold passions for health, their friendship has become more of a sisterhood. Ellyse couldn’t imagine today without Megan by her side.

SOMETHING OLD | MATT’S ROSARY The beads of Matt’s rosary are from Jane’s funeral. Ellyse has the rosary wrapped in her bouquet. SOMETHING NEW | ELLYSE’S ENGAGEMENT RING & WEDDING BAND Matt had the diamonds from Jane’s ring placed into a custom design for Ellyse’s engagement ring. The remaining diamonds were used for her band. SOMETHING BORROWED | ELLYSE’S WEDDING GOWN Ellyse is wearing her mother’s wedding gown with minor alterations, done by Ann. SOMETHING BLUE | ELLYSE’S FLOWERS & ENTIRE WEDDING PARTY Cub blue can be seen throughout the wedding party, ceremony, and reception.

MELISSA FUNK | BRIDESMAID MINNEAPOLIS, MN

Melissa is Matt’s cousin, but has been more of a younger sister (which Ellyse thought she was when they played softball together at Beckman). She was only a year younger than Ellyse in school and their paths crossed countless times on the field and in the halls; but over the last three years, numberous Ungs’ holidays, trips to Minneapolis, and Park Farm the two have become close. Ellyse is excited to join Melissa’s family, and have her as a bridesmaid.

matt’s STARTING LINEUP

NIC UNGS | BEST MAN ATLANTA, GA

ERIC UNGS | GROOMSMAN MARION, IA

Matt chose Nic to be his best man, not only because he is his older brother, but he is truly one of Matt’s best friends. Nic and Matt shared most of the same interests and hobbies (baseball) growing up; and he has been a role model and inspiration in Matt’s life. Matt appreciates all Nic has done for him and that he is standing by him on his wedding day.

Eric is Matt’s cousin, but has always been more of a brother and Matt’s best friend growing up. Since they are the same age, they shared memories and enjoyed life events together including proms, homecomings, and (the best part) growing up playing the game they loved together. High school and college would not have been the same for Matt without Eric there to share it with.

BEAU ELLINGSON | GROOMSMAN DYERSVILLE, IA

THIS SEASON’S VIPS | PARENTS DONNIE UNGS | FATHER

Beau and Matt also met when they were young, but became good friends in high school. They played together and went to the state baseball championship, and their friendship has grown ever since. Whether Matt is golfing, playing baseball, or just watching football on the couch Beau is always one of his first calls. He is one of the best people to be around, and makes every situation an enjoyable one.

Elliot is the youngest of Ellyse’s siblings. From travels around the globe, to playing catch in their parents front yard, the two have enjoyed making memories. Matt met Elliot shortly after he and Ellyse began dating, and their friendship has grown. Matt and Ellyse look forward to the rounds of golf, Cubs/Twins games, and family BBQs with Elliot in the future (and watching him coach Brady).

DAN MARTIN | GROOMSMAN DYERSVILLE, IA

Dan and Matt met at a young age, and a majority of their childhood memories include each other. They went through years of youth and high school sports together, and were even college/postcollege roommates. Although he is only one year older than Matt, Dan has been a tremendous role model and is truly one of the most genuine people you will ever meet. Dan and Matt remain close to this day, and Matt feels grateful to have him in his life.

NICK AXTMAN | GROOMSMAN DES MOINES, IA

Nick is Ellyse’s older brother, and has known Matt since high school where they were involved in football together. Nick and Matt have become closer since he began dating Ellyse, especially during a Salter family trip to Disney.

OLD TESTAMENT READING

A TIME FOR JOY HOW BEAUTIFUL YOU RAISE ME UP MAKE YOUR HOME IN ME #628

sang by Brady Salter - son of the bride & groom

MASS OF CHRIST THE SAVIOR #916-923 BOOK OF GENESIS 2:18-24

The Lord God said: “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a suitable partner for him.” So the Lord God formed out of the ground various wild animals and various birds of the air, and he brought them to the man to see what he would call them; whatever the man called each of them would be its name. The man gave names to all the cattle, all the birds of the air, and all wild animals; but none proved to be the suitable partner for the man. So the Lord God cast a deep sleep on the man, and while he was asleep, he took out one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. The Lord God then built up into a woman the rib that he had taken from the man. When he brought her to the man, the man said: “This one, at last, is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; This one shall be called ‘woman,’ for out of ‘her man’ this one has been taken.” That is why a man leaves his father and mother and clings to his wife, and the two of them become one body. The word of the Lord.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM

NEW TESTAMENT READING

BLEST ARE THOSE WHO LOVE YOU

SAINT PAUL TO THE EPHESIANS 5:2A, 21-33

Brothers and sisters: Live in love, as Christ loved us and handed himself over for us. Be subordinate to one another out of reverence for Christ. Wives should be subordinate to their husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is head of his wife just as Christ is head of the Church, he himself the savior of the body. As the Church is subordinate to Christ, so wives should be subordinate to their husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ loved the Church and handed himself over for her to sanctify her, cleansing her by the bath of water with the word, that he might present to himself the Church in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. So also husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no one hates his own flesh but rather nourishes and cherishes it, even as Christ does the Church, because we are members of his Body. For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. This is a great mystery, but I speak in reference to Christ and the Church. In any case, each one of you should love his wife as himself, and the wife should respect her husband. The word of the Lord.

THE GOSPEL ACCLAMATION

MATTHEW 7:21, 24-29

Jesus said to his disciples: “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. “Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock. And everyone who listens to these words of mine but does not act on themwill be like a fool who built his house on sand. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. And it collapsed and was completely ruined.” When Jesus finished these words, the crowds were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one having authority, and not as their scribes. The Gospel of the Lord.
