Great Scotland Yard is one of London’s most historic and cherished buildings, holding more hidden stories than any other in London. Located in Westminster, this iconic hotel is situated in an 1820’s Grade II-listed building with stunningly preserved Edwardian and Victorian architecture, a place where history meets modern luxury. Perfectly located to explore London’s theatreland, famous landmarks and its hidden gems. Stretch your legs to explore world-renowned sites, such as 10 Downing Street, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace and the Houses of Parliament. Or if you prefer to ‘shop till you drop’, you can browse the numerous luxury brands; Fortnum & Mason, Chanel, Cartier and Selfridges are right on the hotel’s doorstep. Then head to Covent Garden to immerse yourself in central London nightlife.

The hotel has 152 rooms, including eight suites and 11 accessible rooms. No two rooms are the same and the emphasis is on comfortable luxury. All have spacious bathrooms with walk-in rainfall shower and TOTO® toilet, Nespresso® machine and LED TV with screen mirroring function. Adjacent to the hotel, situated over five stories and on the same site that was once home to HRH The King of Scotland, No. 1 The Townhouse provides an exclusive and intimate experience, where every need is met from arrival to departure. Shhh… it’s a secret! #unlockthesecret Great Scotland Yards’ restaurants and bars certainly won’t disappoint either.

Ekstedt at The Yard, by multi-awardwinning Michelin starred chef Niklas Ekstedt, focuses on Scandinavian cooking techniques using the very best seasonal British ingredients and features a menu of signature dishes alongside an inventive cocktail menu and extensive wine list.

The Parlour is inspired by The Imperial hotel in New Delhi for its opulence and sense of tradition and offers afternoon teas and gin and tonics – the perfect place to catch up with family and friends or strike a new business deal over lunch.

Síbín is an evening chill-out lounge that’s all about whisky – the menu features a mix of classic and antagonist-style whisky cocktails and small bites purposefully paired with the carefully curated and ever-changing selection of whiskies. The 40 Elephants is the hub of the hotel, open until late and serving everything from barista coffee to specialised signature cocktails and local craft beers. The food offering incorporates all that is good about London, its cultural diversity and fusion of cuisines.

And if you fancy pampering your pooch whilst enjoying an afternoon of indulgence at The Parlour, Great Scotland Yard has teamed up with canine nutrition experts Talula Eats to create a delicious dogfriendly afternoon tea, which is available every other Sunday.

Great Scotland Yard is ideally located for all central London’s main attractions, with easy access to Charing Cross and Westminster Underground stations. The rooms are beautiful and the hotel decor is sympathetic to its origins as the headquarters of the Metropolitan Police, with paintings, artifacts and patterns embedded into the furniture and flooring.

The breakfast was delicious (lots to choose from) and the staff were amazing. Would most certainly recommend and will hopefully return in the future. And if you’re not aware of the story of 40 Elephants, it’s well worth checking out.
