The Salvation Army Williamson County Service Center
Our Services
Williamson County Service Center The Salvation Army has had a presence in Williamson County since 1955 with a volunteer extension unit, providing emergency lodging vouchers and school age “Shoe In” programs. In 2014, a new Service Center was opened to expand services in order to better serve our neighbors in need. When families and individuals walk through our doors, we identify their most immediate needs. Our goal is to prevent homelessness by providing rent and utility assistance to families in the first stages of financial crisis and help them become self-sufficient again. We also support the community with a food pantry, clothing closet and a spiritual ministry of nursing home visits, youth band programs, summer camp, and outreach to a disadvantaged neighborhood.
Robert’s Story
O
ne awful car accident altered Robert’s life forever. Brought back to life by firemen with defibrillators, Robert’s injuries left him disabled and unable to make a living. He eventually found his way to Georgetown, but was unable to find decent housing he could afford. He was referred to The Salvation Army, and there he received help toward a deposit on a new apartment.
SOCIAL SERVICES Rent and Utility Assistance — The Salvation Army assists individuals and families who are struggling to pay their rent and utilities. We assist those facing eviction and help prevent them from becoming homeless. Food Pantry — Provides groceries to families who are struggling. Clothing — Provides clothing for individuals and families who are unable to afford clothes. This may be anything from play clothes for a child to a business suit for an adult to wear on a job interview. Emergency Lodging — for families who are displaced and in crisis.
Additional Programs & Services • Community Care Ministry • Red Kettle Program • Community Neighborhood Outreach • Youth Summer Camp and Music Program
“I was at the lowest point of my life,” Robert said. “The Salvation Army came through for me so I could move into a better and more affordable apartment.”
