I Dream ‌

I dream of a committed, effective and joyful Army, rooted and confident in the Word of God and on its knees. I dream of an Army that truly reflects the mind of Jesus in our commitment to the poor and the marginalised.

I dream of an Army with strong, relevant and streamlined administrative structures and a much more effective use of our financial and material resources. I dream of an Army where all cultures are equally accepted and celebrated through the spiritual ties that bind us all together.

I dream of an Army that practises what it preaches from the top leadership down, an Army that is a visible and living example of Kingdom values.

I dream of an Army that shuns the dependency culture.

I dream of an Army that values its youth, where our young people feel that they have a voice.

From a speech given by then-Commissioner AndrĂŠ Cox to the 2013 High Council that elected him as General.

greetings and welcome a message from commissioner silvia cox Greetings and welcome to each one of you! As we come in hope and anticipation, ready to receive what the Lord has prepared for us in so many ways, I believe that the worldwide prayer focus and the Bible-reading challenge, which have united us all through these past months, have prepared our minds for this Boundless international congress and for the days to come. I hope to see many of you at the ‘Bound-Less’ women’s event. We will celebrate and worship God together and be women ‘Unrestricted – Liberated – Released’ to love him and to do his will. Experience the many opportunities that the congress offers you; take advantage of the fellowship; and, above all, enjoy the presence of Jesus, our Lord and Saviour, during this special time in which we will all be challenged and empowered!

Take back with you colourful and meaningful memories to share with those who have stayed at home. God bless you. With my warmest greetings, Silvia Cox Commissioner World President of Women’s Ministries

GENERAL SESSIONS

Boundless – The Whole World Redeeming The Salvation Army’s 150th anniversary international congress is inspired by the song ‘O Boundless Salvation!’, penned by General William Booth and affectionately known by Salvationists as the Founder’s Song. O boundless salvation! deep ocean of love; O fullness of mercy, Christ brought from above. The whole world redeeming, so rich and so free; Now flowing for all men, come roll over me! ‘Boundless’ means ‘having no boundaries, without limits’, and it explains the nature of God’s love, grace, mercy and salvation, which are available to every man, woman and child. The Salvation Army believes today as much as yesterday that God’s salvation is still available to the whole world, and that all of humanity can be redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ. It is our sincere prayer that through this congress every delegate would be empowered to ‘preach to the nations the boundless riches of Christ’ (Ephesians 3:8) and make the words of the Founder’s Song their heart’s prayer and their life’s anthem: And now, hallelujah! the rest of my days; Shall gladly be spent in promoting his praise. Who opened his bosom to pour out this sea; Of boundless salvation for you and for me. Over these days together may we all join in commemorating the past, celebrating the present and innovating for the future. And let all of God’s Army join in pleading again as over the past 150 years: ‘O boundless salvation … come roll over me’.

24 Boundless 2015

Then you need The General challenged congress planners to ensure that every main session was child and family friendly, and that children were made visible and included during the five days of the international congress. Therefore, Boundless Kids is about enabling children (aged 5-12) and families to engage with the whole Boundless experience together.

Our team of experienced children’s leaders will engage with children and their families, help children to go deeper with some of things they’ve seen and heard in the main sessions, and make sure everyone gets the most out of Boundless 2015. In the Boundless Kids bags there will be a child-specific activity booklet that will bring alive the topics from the main sessions, in age-appropriate form. Any of our Boundless Kids team will be happy to work with you and your child if you feel that would help. Over the five days, our energetic team will get children involved in storytelling, singing, drama and dancing. We will also be asking some big Boundless questions.

YOUTH AND CHILDREN

Do you have children with you?

BOUNDLESS KIDS

Before every session, while you wait in queues and at other times throughout the whole congress, we want to engage with you as families in the walkways and outside spaces of The O2. Whenever you see one of the Boundless Kids team, do come and talk to us – we want to get to know you and develop worldwide friendships. We may even have something in our Boundless bags to add to your experience! Boundless 2015 is a huge event! Our information point is designed to make children and families feel welcome. You will be able to ask any questions, give feedback and just get to know us. Make sure you get here as soon as you can – you will find us in The Boundless Experience.

Come along to our information area, chat with some of the team and have the opportunity to get involved in the interactive space. There will be something different in this space each day for you as a family, so don’t just visit us once – please come back! Please note: for families who aren’t able to attend for the full five days, please be aware that your child can still come and collect a Boundless Kids bag from our information desk.

We want to make a positive difference to every child that comes to Boundless 2015.

26 Boundless 2015

Boundless Kids has its own special space situated in the heart of The Boundless Experience. This is an area where children and their families will be able to engage with, unpack and explore the week’s themes together. If you find that the main sessions are too much for your child/children, then come along with them to the Boundless Kids marquee located in The Boundless Experience. Inside you will be able to experience and share different ways of responding to each day’s theme in a more tranquil and reflective atmosphere. Whether you prefer to wonder through godly play, chill through quiet activities, think through discussion or be creative and make, then this area will be suited to you. Please note: this venue is not a drop-off area for children. All children in the venue must stay under the supervision of an adult. We want to encourage families to play and learn together.

NEON

Thursday 2 JULY Friday 3 JULY Saturday 4 July AT 2pm NEON, the Boundless teen gathering, led by ALOVE – the UK Territory with the Republic of Ireland’s Youth Department, will be an explosion of 11- to 16-year-olds gathering to focus on celebrating Jesus through worship, personal stories, and fun each afternoon of the congress. The group will share in an array of activities – called Glozones – and worship and teaching. There’ll be games, competitions, dance, a Haka group, art, drama, worship, teaching, videos, story-sharing, quiet reflection space and a prayer labyrinth... the list goes on!

Building Six

DURATION 2HRS 30MINS Please note: only those aged 11-16 who have booked in and registered with NEON online can come into this venue

The sessions will be hosted by the winners of the UK Young Presenters Competition: Lydia Daniels (Sunderland Monkwearmouth), Becky Elliott (Gloucester), Noah Hilditch (Hendon) and Anya Williams (Bedford Congress Hall). Worship will be led by Second Mile. This will be a great opportunity to spend time with young people your own age, worship God and celebrate The Salvation Army’s 150th birthday together!

THE BOUNDLESS EXPERIENCE

30 June 1pm-9pm 1 July – 4 July 9am-11pm 5 July 9am-2pm HISTORIC DISPLAY

Our Boundless Story, the congress historic display, is a collection of images that have been assembled to tell the story of The Salvation Army through the years. Many of the images found in the display have rarely been seen by Salvationists or the general public. The display is creatively put together in gallery and mural formats, taking viewers on a journey through time and around the world. The journey begins in Victorian England, with scenes that would have been familiar to William and Catherine Booth as they cast their lot with the poor and downtrodden of London’s East End. Very quickly their young Salvation Army spread, not only around the United Kingdom but also across the world. The display allows viewers to follow the story through the years as the Army expanded its influence. Displays take the visitor from services to the Allied forces in the world wars to modern-day opportunities around the globe to share God’s love in tangible ways. Sprinkled throughout the display are several rare artefacts from the early days of The Salvation Army that have been graciously loaned for the duration of the congress. Our Boundless Story is generously sponsored, in part, by Krispy Kreme UK, which has also provided doughnuts for the exhibition. Boundless 2015 47

Romans 9 Paul explains God’s sovereignty in bringing the gospel to the Gentiles The New International Version of the Bible has footnotes suggesting other ways of phrasing verse 5. What is the difference between them and why do you think the translators preferred to write it in this way? Do you know people, groups or churches who rely more on ‘good works’ to be saved rather than faith in Jesus (vv 30-33)? Romans 10 ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved’ (v 13) Is there anyone you know who needs to hear the gospel (vv 14, 15)? Is there any reason why you couldn’t be used by God to tell someone the good news? Romans 11 The remnant of Israel Do you believe God has replaced his relationship with Israel with that of the Church, or will the Jews be ‘grafted back’ into a relationship with God through belief in Jesus Christ (vv 11-27)? Is Christianity rooted in Judaism? What is the primary doctrinal difference between a Jew and a Christian? Romans 12 Hate what is evil; cling to what is good What is ‘the pattern of this world’ (v 2)? How do you interpret verse 11? Do you ever find yourself lacking in zeal?

Childr Chall en’s enge Anyone can be saved Romans 10:5-17

Today’s passage has some really important messages in it for each of us to remember. Read the verses a couple of times. Highlight or underline the words or phrases that you think are important. Share the parts that you think are important with someone else in your family or at your church. Write out one verse that you can decorate and place it somewhere you will see and be reminded of it this week.

Romans 13 Love is the fulfilment of the Law Should we submit to the authorities even when we disagree with them (vv 1-7)? Do you think verse 8 gives financial as well as practical and spiritual advice?

In a true spirit of One Army, whether you’re a delegate here at The O2 or watching online, you’ll be able to respond to the teaching, worship, prayer and moving of the Holy Spirit in a wide variety of languages at http://sar.my/response (see page 66).

We know you’re excited to be here, and we’re keen for you to share your Boundless experience via social media – right now!

Use the #Boundless2015 hashtag on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to tell the world why you’ve chosen to be part of Boundless.

What have been the highlights? How has God spoken to you through Boundless? How will you be reacting? Your comments and pictures will help people around the world to see and feel what it is like to be in London for the congress – and those same people can join in the conversation, surrounding all that takes place in a covering of prayer.

If you’re not online, why not link up with a delegate who is?

Or with one of the International Headquarters/territorial media team members? We’d be thrilled to tell your story.

Don’t be shy – tell the world! ‘No one lights a lamp and puts it under a bowl; instead it is put on the lampstand, where it gives light for everyone’ (Matthew 5:15, Good News Bible). Let the boundless love of God shine through this congress, here in London and right around the world.

MY PERSONAL COMMITMENT

Ephesians 1:17-19 I ask – ask the God of our Master, Jesus Christ, the God of glory – to make you intelligent and discerning in knowing him personally, your eyes focused and clear, so that you can see exactly what it is he is calling you to do, grasp the immensity of this glorious way of life he has for his followers, oh, the utter extravagance of his work in us who trust him – endless energy, boundless strength! (The Message) In every delegate bag you will find a ‘My Personal Commitment’ bookmark. Individual ticket holders can be obtain bookmarks from the Boundless Information Desks. During the seven main sessions of Boundless, opportunity will be given to make a response to the call/voice of God. The bookmark can be used to sign in acknowledgement of your commitment, and also points to a website http://sar.my/response where you can register your commitment. The website is translated into the languages shown below and will give delegates the opportunity to indicate what session a personal commitment has been made in; what type of commitment was made; and what further information is required (eg is your commitment a conversion, or are you commiting yourself to soldiership, officership, discipleship etc?). The information you provide on the website will be forwarded to your home territory to enable follow-up support and specific prayers. Considering the numbers of delegates (15,000), who represent more than 120 countries and 30 languages, it is not possible to provide individual mercy seat counselling during all the public sessions. The protection and safety of delegates is an important requirement in meeting the safety constraints of The O2 venue. In the majority of sessions, the leader will ask for a response while you stay in your seat. Please do not move forward unless the leader indicates to do so. Please be intentional by seeking out your officer/spiritual leader/friend to pray with you following the session. We want to encourage you to register your commitment on the website, and be accountable by speaking to someone when you return to your home territory.

sar.my/response

While not wanting to interfere with what God wants to say to his people and the response made, we need to ensure the safety and well-being of every person who attends and makes a public response. available in Cantonese, English, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish 66 Boundless 2015
