YOUNG MUSICIANS DEVOTIONS ALOVE UK & MUSIC MINISTRIES UNIT This series of devotions on the senses has been written by Christina White who is part of CARUS, a new expression of The Salvation Army in Chelmsford, Essex. This series requires your group to split into small groups for Discussion and prayer. If this isn’t something they have done before you might want to consider appointing leaders for each group to help.

COMMUNITY 3 – LIVING Resources Needed – A sheet of A4 paper and a pen for every member Intro - Life can’t always be brilliant. There are ups and downs for each of us, but being in close community (like a youth chorus or youth band) where we are able to be open and honest is a way that God helps us to be supported and cared for when times are tough. Activity - On a sheet of paper, write down a time when you have been down and why. Try and think of a person or people who stood by you and supported you. Write down the ways they did that. Thought - Living as a true, Christian, Holy Spirit filled community is about being sacrificial in your love for each other. It’s about giving your time to your friend who is in need, even when you would rather be playing your Xbox kinect or checking facebook. If we truly care about living in community we have to be there for each other first and foremost, no matter what the cost. Close your eyes and let the words of the following bible readings wash over you; 1 Thessalonians 5:11 “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” Romans 12:13 “Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality.” 1 Peter 3:8 “Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble.” Matthew 25:35-40 “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.' "Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?' "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.' Small Groups - Get into small groups and be honest with each other if there is something hard that you are going through right now. Pray with each other and for each other to close the evening.
