Introduction to the ALOVE UK Cut It Out campaign for your youth group We would love for you to get your youth group involved in the ALOVE UK Cut It Out campaign so have put together this introductory session for to use with your young people. Preparation Download the campaign information pack for youth workers from the ALOVE UK website or order a copy by emailing alove@salvationarmy.org.uk As the group leader familiarise yourself with this pack so that you know exactly what the campaign involves and flag up particular areas of the campaign that you think your young people will be particularly interested in. Download human trafficking information from Stop the Traffic via the ALOVE UK website Order your free copies of h2p4 (how to pray for) the issue of human trafficking from ALOVE UK by emailing alove@salvationarmy.org.uk Welcome Spend 10 minutes talking about human trafficking What do people know about this subject already? Share some of the facts that can be found throughout the youth worker pack and from the downloadable material from the ALOVE UK website. Contemplate How does what we have just found out about make us feel? Is the issue of human trafficking something anyone had thought about much?
Is human trafficking for sexual exploitation a new concept or is it something that people have heard about before? Why do we think that human trafficking for sexual exploitation happens? On a large sheet of paper write down some of the words/thoughts that you are feeling at the moment, are there any common themes? Discuss what people have written down. Action View the CUT IT OUT campaign video which can be found on the ALOVE UK website Using the youth worker pack explain the ALOVE campaign to your young people allowing time for discussion and thoughts about what ALOVE are asking people to do. Does the group feel inspired to take action? Is there anything in particular that stands out to them as something that they particularly want to focus on? As a group prepare a campaign plan! Prayer Spend some time finishing the session in prayer. Make sure you order copies of h2p4 (how to pray for) the issue of human trafficking in advance of this session as you can use some of the ideas from this resource and then give every young person a copy to take home with them.
